Great atmosphere from the second you walk in, good selection of tasty local beers! I had to try 5 throughout the week! The Black Isle Beer is very good! Live music every night i was there, made a business trip very enjoyable!

Called in for a drink on a weekend visit to Inverness and I really liked this place. Staff were young with lots of energy and friendly chat. The menu boasts Scottish traditional food and overall it was very good. I opted for the traditional steak and ale pie (I can't remember the ale mentioned on the menu). It was fantastic! It was served with potato dauphinoise with cheese and enough peas to serve a family of six for a week! The potatoes were so good, it reminded me that I haven't made them for a while and must remedy that. Husband had the fish and chips and loved the fish, crispy batter and soft white fish (which was almost twice the size of the plate). The down side had to be the chips - they were quite awful! Traditional Scottish food does not include frozen chips particularly awful ones at that. Hootananny boasts of their 2 rosette chef on the menu - c'mon chef surely wi 2 rosette's you can make some decent chips to go with the rest of your fantastic food? Overall, a place to visit when in Inverness and we were sorry we couldn't stay for the music as the atmosphere was great and folks were clearly having a great time.

Didn't eat at this place, so can't comment on the quality of the food, but the drinks were reasonably priced and the traditional live music was great! It was a Sunday night and the place was busy.

Hoots have just changed their menu to a scottish one and we loved it. Good home good food perfect before a night of drinking and enjoying the music from the lives bands. Good ages mix so our crowd aged 40-50 did not feel out of place with the youngsters!
