Travelling with friends from the USA who wanted something of a traditional Scottish pint of beer and music. Hootananny came well recommended so we tried it fort an early evening drink when it was very quiet and checked the place out! The selection of local beers was good and the choice of good malts was a challenge. The staff were great and gave us all the info we needed to plan our evening.
After eating our meal we made our way to Hootananny for 2045 and grabbed a couple of pints of the local Porter which went down very well. The musicians started around 2130hrs and the combination of fiddle, guitar and drum was very well received. We had a few more beers, enjoyed the traditional music and set off for our hotel all the better for a good experience in a good venue.
The only thing to look out for is that the loos are all upstairs and anyone who finds stairs a problem should take note. The other point to note is that whilst down stairs is traditional music, upstairs is seriously loud rock music.
Overall a really good night out and our American visitors loved it.
