Visited the Waterfront for a pint when my wife and I were out for a walk on the first afternoon of our 3 day break( 24/04), we had a look at the evening menu and decided we would return for dinner. We had a nice meal of crab cakes, haggis bob bons, steak and trimmings and belly pork. At around 8.30pm the music started, it was an Inverness based folk group called Schiehallion and if you like good rousing Scottish folk songs, you'll not hear better.

Well worth a visit, especially on a Thursday evening.

...like so many others that are trying to be like a restaurant, consequently all the tables, bar one pokey little corner, are set for diners. What about the visitor who is looking for a comfortable seat to enjoy a beer or two? Is there such a place in Inverness? We couldn't find it.

We had an evening meal here when we'd left it too late to get into Inverness's favourite restaurants. Firstly, we must say, the staff were a delight - very friendly and efficient.

The Waterfront is a pleasant pub type of place that serves decent pub style food at slightly higher prices. Menu showed a good selection of food.

Unfortunately our starters were mixed up a bit with the wrong sauces being on each dish. The mains were meant to be "sizzlers" but though they were each served on a heavy black iron skillet, there was no sizzle whatsoever and the food was actually sitting in a pool of grease. This was a bit off putting though the food was tasty enough. Pudding was one of those platter/ selection type desserts but the presentation made it look like the chef was just having a clear out. Again, a bit off putting.

So, not a disasterous meal but it could have been a whole lot better. The thing that really makes this place is the great staff and the laid back surroundings and atmosphere. With a little more thought and attention to food prep and presentation, it has the potential for being really good.
