We stayed one night in the "Wyvis" room that had a lovely view of the mountains. The king size bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast (included) the following morning...then on to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle...wonderful weather!

Room Tip: As for the Wyvis room...

A spontaneous last-minute week in the highlands started at this superb hotel, a traditional country house in attractive grounds accessed by a short private road and crunching gravel drive. Excellent service, good sized room with a decent bed - we had a view out over rolling countryside to the twinkling lights of Inverness in the distance; drinks on the deck with other guests before dinner, again looking out over mature wooded grounds; unbelievable food which had us slowing to almost a full stop while savouring the flavours and textures. Spoke to the chef to compliment him and ask about the food the following night - his day off. He assured me that the sous-chef was excellent and our experience the following evening was just as good. Truly five star.

We stayed in a jr. suite at the Country House in July. The room was large with a comfortable king bed, a roll away and a sofa bed in the sitting room. We had a nice view of the gardens. The decor is a bit dated and the bathroom is functional but not luxurious but overall the inn is very comfortable and welcoming. The two sitting rooms on the ground floor are quiet and charming and the perfect spot to read a book, drink tea or a glass of wine, and just unwind. In "off hours," our children were able to take their laptops to the sitting rooms and use skype to connect with friends. NOTE: Wi-fi is rooms is not great but is good in the common rooms. NOTE 2: The TV options are limited but the inn has a library of DVDs for loan and we found it easy to let the kids watch a movie after dinner while we had a drink in the common room on the ground floor.

The onsite restaurant is lovely and the food is both ambitious and good. Some dishes are better then others but overall the chef does a good job showing off both local cuisine and local products. The children's menu has healthy options and is quite generous. We had dinner in the restaurant two times during our stay and enjoyed both dinners.

The breakfast buffet and cooked options are terrific. The service can be a bit slow as the staff is small and everything is cooked to order. Patience is a must but the payoff is worth it.

Overall, this is a lovely inn. Very quiet and charming, just off the beaten path but convenient for exploring. The inn is not luxurious per se, but the attentive staff, on site fine dining, and setting make it a nice get away.

Room Tip: There are only 15 rooms on the property. For more privacy, enquire about the garden cottages.

We stayed here for a couple of night it's a short drive between Inverness and Loch Ness. It's an ideal location for exploring. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. The room we had was spacious and clean although a little tired. We would return back as we were not disappointed in any way

We had to book the hotel last minute and the only room available was a fairly pricey junior suite, which we probably would not have chosen if we had had the luxury of choice. The room was very large and comfortable, furniture a little dated but bed was nice. The bathroom would need an update, as it shows sign of age, and also that uncomfortable combined bath/ shower. What really made the stay a great short stay was the friendliness of the staff - starting from phone contact to reception - and the dinner. The menu was very good, and perfectly executed; there were only four tables for dinner and we were all served by John - one of the best waiters I have ever come across: John was friendly, helpful and efficient, and had a great way to interact with all guests, from the children at one of the tales, to the couple that was celebrating their first year anniversary, to us...

This small hotel is just south Inverness on the main road from Inverness to Loch Ness. It is in a quiet country setting with a nice back garden. The rooms are quite large and comfortably furnished but not too fancy. The bathroom fixtures are a little dated. One of the rooms in our group was experiencing a loud water hammer noise that management did sort out but only by shutting off the water during sleeping hours. Next morning we were allowed to change rooms to avoid the noise. Breakfast was typical full Scottish.

Room Tip: May wish to make sure you discuss with management to see if water hammer problems have been resolved...

Stayed here July 2013 whilst attending a family wedding being held at the hotel. Lovely grounds and setting. Room was large, clean and fresh. Food during the wedding was fantastic, as was the breakfast the following morning. Felf the hotel itself was quite expensive, even with a 'discount' for being a member of the wedding party. Would definitely stay there again though.
