My mantra is that one hopes for good service ,ambience and food and if you get two out of three when dining out you are usually happy .None of that here ,we were faced with impeccable service in a stunning setting and food of the highest quality .
My starter featured scallops and black pudding ,a favourite combination but i have never had these items cooked so perfectly . My main of haggis stuffed chicken almost let the side down by being just very good but my partners desert of spiced pear saved the day .The forward in the menu raised our expectations however unlike some places the food delivered ..and how .
I would rate this amongst the top three dining experiences of a very long life . If you live in this area and have a life event to celebrate I suggest you come here .If you live in this area and run a self promoted fine dining experience i suggest you come here and find out how to do it properly

Stayed at for 1 night (a Friday) as part of a 10 day holiday in Scotland that we had organised ourselves. Booked the Wyvis Suite based upon the excellent advice I received from the receptionist over the phone when booking - and it was perfect. It faces onto the Beauly Firth and has views across to various hills and mountains on the other side of the Firth. The suite is also very spacious and light as it is a corner room that has widows (one of which is a large window-seat) on two sides.

The two public rooms (cocktail bar and drawing room) are also spacious and welcoming as is the wood panelled restaurant with it's views across the Beauly Firth. Dinner was very enjoyable and the standard of cooking was the 2 AA Rosettes the hotel claims. Breakfast was also good. Staff throughout were friendly, keen to please and efficient.

This really is an excellent 4 star country house hotel in an lovely location.

Great location, exceptional food and friendly staff.

Watched the ospreys hunting over the water, they were spectacular.

This old mansion has a great location next to the sea and surrounded by a little forests with some ancient and magnificent cedar trees.

Rooms have a personal style and are generally large, certainly ours was (The Cedar Suite). Rooms are well appointed, beautiful "ceiling" bed, the bathroom all working very well. Not all new and shiny, but that is not an issue. Complimentary water and local (yummy!) shortbread.

We ordered the 5 course dinner (really 3 + amuse bouche + coffee & petit fours) and at GBP 40 that was unbeatable value. Good selections available and we chose lemon sole for starter and venison for main course, all very delicate and tasty. They also had a good selection of wines in all price ranges, even a few half bottles at excellent value. I even had some nice Scottish cheese (so "course 6") that was not even charged. Breakfast the following day was also to a very high standard, we ordered the Scottish grill.

Staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Would go back any day!

Room Tip: We had the Cedar Suite with a lovely garden view, but you might prefer a room with sea view. If it is not raining, you could see the sunset....
