Our first room, number 11, was 3 flights of walking up to a room that had severely slanted ceilings, especially over the bath tub. This room had NO shower, just a tub with hand shower attachment with a very low ceiling above the tub, making it impossible to stand. The staff actually gave me the key to another room where the guest was going to be a late check-in so I could shower (kind of creepy for that guest but perhaps ignorance is bliss). The other room I used for the shower was room 4 and had a lovely view of the river and seemingly much nicer finishes and furnishings. When I woke, I was freezing as apparantly the radiator system was not yet turned on but nobody told me to turn on the cheap electric portable heater that was hiding in the tiny closet. I frankly would have rather stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Breakfast was also mediocre.

Room Tip: River view room only! Make sure you do NOT get a third floor room as this is a converted attic.

We recently stayed at the Glenmoriston on our trip around Scotland and were full of high hopes when we got there. We baulked slightly at the price of the room (160 pounds / night) but decided that it would be worth it with the river view, location etc. Internet access is extra so we agreed to pay for that and I spent a frustrating 2 hours trying to log on only to have the connection cut out on me every 5 mins which meant re logging in having lost where I was and having to start all over. We asked the receptionist about the surrounding area only to discover she was over doing a summer stint and had no idea (the only time it happened during our 2 week stay in Scotland - everywhere else we stayed had supremely informative staff) Still, minor irritations we decided...until my partner decided to have a shower. I heard an almighty clunk, a few choice swear words and eventually he emerged shower head in hand. It turned out that the shower head wasn't fixed to anything so had come straight off as soon as the shower was turned on. He then tried to have a shower with the over the bath attachment which didn't work either. Thoroughly miffed we went down to dinner and explained the situation to the receptionist who said she'd look into it. We then sat through an ok dinner, nothing special especially after we had to remind the waitress twice about every course (again, the only time it happened during our stay) and then headed back up to the room. The receptionist meanwhile explained that the shower head was unfixable but they'd sorted the over the bath attachment - this translated to 5 mins to get the water temp right, having to sit down to shower as the ceiling sloped sharply but having to stand up to reach the shower gel and shampoo which were fixed too high to the wall and then taking twice as long as the water pressure was terrible. We asked that the manager be informed and when we got our bill we saw 10 pounds had been taken off - a massive insult we felt considering the price of the room which was by far and away the most expensive of our stay Edinburgh and Glasgow centres were much cheaper for far superior hotels. The manager was clearly out of his depth, with no authority and also appeared to be doing a summer stint. We certainly won't be going back or recommending it and I hope they manage to sort their staffing problems out as well. The rest of our stay in Scotland was amazing, it was just the one night in Inverness that wasn't up to scratch.

Room Tip: Small, some of the furniture could do with upgrading, bathroom was very badly designed

Five friends and I stayed at the GLENMORISTON for two nights during our 5-day trip to the Highlands. I personally had booked the hotel, after going through their web site (with lovely pictures!..) and the mostly good reviews I had read on TRIPADVISOR. All three rooms we were given, were totally different, with only one having a big window with a beautiful view on the river. The second was small with a rather small window and a partial view on the river and the third one had no glimpse on the river. All the rooms were located in different parts of the main building, which is a real maze! We had to go up stairs, then down, then through corridors and again steps down etc. There is no lift, so people with even small problems (like one of our friends) have difficulties during their stay. The bathrooms are not in a bad condition, but belonging to the "era", when United Kingdom had separate faucets...., cold and hot water come from different faucets! Breakfast is good, the personnel polite and accommodating, BUT none of us got our wake-up telephone call in the morning! We had requested it to two different persons at the reception desk the night before and, if it were not for OUR care, we would have missed our tour! This is a very serious fault in a hotel, which is supposed to have good service. The very polite manager I spoke to was very apologetic, but the fact remains! I also find unacceptable the fact that, a hotel, which charges over £ 200 pounds a night, charges you $ 5.00 a day for WI FI! This is a service that was being offered free in even the smallest Beds and Breakfasts we saw in town!

I must say I expected more from a hotel with a web site with such lovely pictures and descriptions of its rooms and services, a hotel which also had good reviews on TRIPADVISOR.

Room was very clean and comfy - not the biggest i've stayed in - but it was fine for the one night - huge shower with loads of hot water. Liked the little touches - a proper teapot and cup and saucer !

Breakfast was fine - just what you would expect in a good hotel - although the portions a little skimpy.

Reception staff very friendly and helpful

The hotel is in an excellent location. It's just a short walk into town (less than 5 min) and has a lovely view of the River Ness. The room was small but adequate for 2 people. The bed was comfortable and the shower was huge! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was small but very good. The internet was a bit spotty and tended to go in and out. Overall it was a very good hotel and we'd recommend it to friends.

The hotel is very nice, with a comfortable bar/pub inside and a good restaurant.
The staff is friendly and smiling. The room where we slept was really beautiful and lovely.
Looking through a wide windows, you can enjoy, from your sofa or sitting on the comfortable armchairs, the beautiful view of the river and the tree-lined street below.
At sunset, the landscape all around becomes like a colored painting.
So... What else do you want?
It's amazing!

The river views do not get any better than this! Great room, great views, great breakfast. We did not eat dinner at either of the two in house restaurants, but went next door to the restaurant in the Waterside Hotel. The food was excellent.
