“I wouldn't”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

My wife and I booked this hotel believing we had a 4 star bargain, more like a 5 star mistake. Inverness was bitterly cold however not a chilly as room no 29, we had booked a meal at the restaurant which did look nice however room was to cold to change/shower. We did complain however by the time they arranged a heater it was too late and we had to settle for takeaway. Room was apparently a executive, I wouldn't like to see the standard room. Not sure about the plumbing In the building toilet did flush after a half hour fight,it may have been cold....I wouldn't. Stay here again I would much rather book a hostel for the night.

Booked this hotel as part of a Valentines surprise as we had previously discussed getting Married here.

The service was slow for the meal, however food was very enjoyable.

Despite two discussions with the "Wedding Co-ordinator" and two emails we have heard nothing from this hotel regarding prices and options for our wedding (3 weeks after original email)... Serveral other hotels are wanting our business, and given the service we have recieved so far it is VERY unlikely Glenmoriston will even be considered now!

This is a hotel that is based on pretence rather than realism!!!!

Room Tip: Room 20 - best view overlooking river

room clean and tidy but too much furniture. bathroom very nice. tv and dvd in room, both good. food was ok and breakfast was ok, dissapointed with their black puddings though. excellent location and had good banter in the bar, (which is on the small side). Perfectly nice overall but is on the small side and is a bit like a b and b

My wife and I stayed here this week for her birthday,we had heard so much about it and were looking forward to the stay.
First impressions were good, very professional and friendly receptionist, and the room was excellent,if a little small, overlooking the River Ness.
We were booked into the bistro for our evening meal and were not disappointed,my Quail was perfection and my wifes Mussels and Bream the same.
We went through to the bar for coffees, what a selection of Malt whiskys they nave, something for everyone.
This is when the only blip to our stay happened, the very helpful young waitress was bringing us some petit fours when she tripped and dropped them all over me,an accident, she could not have been more apologetic, and I told her it was Ok,but not one of the managerment team came over to see all was Ok,no apologies from them or offer to pay for dry cleaning as my clothes were covered in chocolate and cream.
Apart from this a totally enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Any with a veiw of the river

Booked this online one day in advance. Booked a superior double room at the late room price of £80. when we arrived we were charged £80 on our checkin card and sent to room 26 in the next building. Immediately on entering the room we knew it was not what we had booked as it was the same as the website picture for an executive room which was £10 cheaper on the website. I went to the reception to query it only to be told they didn't have any superior rooms left! When asked why we had been charged the higher rate the receptionist went off somewhere to speak to a manager who I assume was not on the premises but at the end of a phone. I then was given different excuses about system changes, receptionist just back from holiday and a mistake being made. The receptionist said as a gesture they would charge us the rate of £70. I had to point out that the rate for the room we were in was only £70!! I honestly don't think she was bothered that we didn't have the correct room. A young gentleman then offered us a bottle of champagne as compensation, I declined as we don't drink champagne, as it was already dark and after 5pm and I opted to stay and requested a bottle of red wine instead which did arrive at our room 30 mins later. I feel cheated that we didn't get the room we had booked, we would have booked another hotel with similar rooms if we had known we were just getting a standard room, by the way the executive rooms are cramped and there is barely enough room to walk round the bed. Wood furniture is bashed and chipped. We decided on principle not to eat in the restaurant which we had planned to do and took our custom else where. Incredibly disappointed with the way our booking was handled and would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

A great mid range hotel. Staff were very helpful, the rooms were very well presented and the food was excellent. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Inverness.
