Owner description: Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Botanic Gardens, formerly Inverness Floral Hall & Gardens, are an oasis of calm and beauty within walking distance of the city centre. With each new season the outside gardens are an explosion of colour and texture, and borders are planted to demonstrate a wide variety of plants and growing conditions. The impressive glasshouses reveal the drama of plant diversity ranging from the tropical rainforests to arid, heat scorched desert.

“Lovely couple of hours out”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

An extremely charming and most of all free attraction in Inverness. It's a decent 30 minute slow stroll along the banks of the River Ness to get there but well worth it. The coffee shop is a dream, I had coffee and cake my partner selected a sandwich to be toasted from the chiller. Taking our seats with the drinks the server brought the toasted sandwich over which was served with salad and coleslaw, something we did not expect, wonderful touch.
Walking round the gardens we were blessed with sunny weather which made the plants and flowers seem more splendid. Took some cracking photos and to visit you don't need to be a gardener to appreciate the effort gone into making the place tick.

The hall and gardens are certainly well worth a visit. The fish pond is a big attraction with the kids (and some older ones)... The café is good although not with a huge selection. Staff friendly.

Great place to pass an hour or so. We probably didn't see the garden at its best but can appreciate how nice it would be in the height of summer. Entry was free, we would have paid to go in. The cafe attached was welcoming and coffee and cake lovely.

What an excellent and enjoyable visit this was and all free. Have paid entry fee for a lot less.
The greenhouses were well kept and fascinating with a wide variety of plant species. Staff were really friendly and very pleasant both inside and the gardens outside.
Café was very pleasant, food very good and excellent value with a relaxed atmosphere.
