“What's all the fuss about?”
Reviewed 16 May 2012

We stayed here for two nights during a 10 day trip to Scotland. The house and the grounds are very pretty, with birds, deer and rabbits for wildlife lovers. However, I was surprised to find litter in and around the pond. We stayed in the Garden Mansion and it was very quiet with large rooms. The furnishings and linens were a little tired and didn't compare with the rooms in the main house. We had a couple of maintenance issues, and didn't find management to be particularly responsive. Overall it was fine, but our least favorite hotel of our entire trip and not the room quality or service that I would have expected for a highly ranked hotel.

We stayed four nights in this hotel. Very clean and well kept. The manager was highly spoken of before we even arrived at the establishment. The locals of the area are obviously proud of this hotel. On arrival we were greeted and shown to the room which was very clean and newly painted and well furnished. Room service is 24 hours and really the fastest I have ever seen. The quality was also excellent and the food was of a very high standard. Breakfast was superb except for the toast (as the previous person mentioned) and it would have been nice to have the porridge with a teaspoon of whiskey in the Scottish way. Two things I would comment on...but they are only small things..the lounge needs some white or yellow flower arrangements..as its too bare..also the ladies who do the cleaning dont do a good job of cleaning the glass on the coffee tables, which gives an impression of shabby, which is actually unjustified. Polish the glass until it shines and add some flowers and very soft music and that room would be very inviting..where as now its a little bland. This hotel was the only place I have ever been where the manager asked what time we were leaving on the day of departure...when we told him ..'evening' he said ...'keep the room as long as you like..' which was a huge help as we were catching the night train. I heartily recommend Culloden House for the food, surroundings and service. The owners should be very proud of thier staff and take good care of them! All staff were very quick and respectful and pleasant! Haven't seen better in years. Will definately go back some time soon.

Room Tip: Be specific if you have any special requirements. No lift but there's help with the luggage. All...

It's a beautiful building and the room was great but the best thing about this hotel is the staff. You're made to feel like an honoured member of the family. The food was fantastic, the best venison I have ever had. Will definitely be back

We had a lovely stay but a couple of minor gripes.
Why oh why do hotels fail to get toast right for breakfast. They use that horrible pappy supermarket bread that comes slced. Why don't they make their own bread and toast that or buy decent bread. The toast is never done enough and by the time it arrives it is cold and soggy.
I was also disappointed the the set price menu was the same for each evening of our stay and that the a la carte didn't change either.

What a place from the time you see the hotel to the time you leave you are treated like royality probably because royality has stayed.Oh and a recent prime minister twice.
Our room was fantastic with 6ft wide bed and a super sized bath with hydro. The food when it was served you did not know whether to take a picture or eat it.Eat it we did what a meal.
Do not consider any where else this is the place to be spoilt and relax

Room Tip: ask for the big bath

I took my fiancé here for our engagement in Febraury 2012. It had to be perfect and The Culloden House was. We are in our late 20's from the midlands and stayed for two nights. Everything about this hotel is professional. The hotel was quiet during our stay, but that made it all the more intamate. It also meant I was able to get the stay at a better rate.
We stayed in a superior room with a jacuzzi bath overlooking the side of the hotel. I would describe the Culloden as more of a large, beautiful home than a hotel -this was very refreshing. The food was incredible, we sampled a typical Scottish menu which was delicious. The waiters and receptionists were friendly, professional and helpful. I placed so much trust on this visit to the highlands and The Culloden made it possible. Thank you so much.

The hotel is wonderful - warm and comfortable and full of history.
We had dinner the first night, which was exceptionally good. Long leisurely breakfasts with lots of good Scottish produce. And the bar has a great selection of whisky!!
Above all, the staff went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming, but were never intrusive.
The hotel feels like it is miles from anywhere, but is in fact 10 minutes drive from the centre of Inverness.

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
