Some friends and I stayed at Culloden House for the Hogmanay celebrations. The service was exceptional and food was amazing. The staff have created a relaxed ambiance while still upholding very high standards.

Excellent location surrounded by interesting walking routes and an enchanted Forrest trail. Staff extremely welcoming and professional and friendly throughout our stay. The character of the house enhanced our experience as we were made to feel special in a homely manner in a grand setting!

The food was exquisite width portions to fill even the hungriest of us and accommodating a vegetarian menu was seamless.

We would definitely recommend Culloden House as a place to enjoy the company of family and friends and to recharge your batteries.

Room Tip: We slept in room no 11. Large room with a very large comfortable bed with a sunny aspect an uninter...

We stayed here for a night and were in the annex a short walk from the main hotel. I felt a bit miffed at not being in the main hotel but the room we had was beautiful and I was quite happy with it. It had a big comfortable bed and a large bath which was great for a hot soak in after a long day. As we were getting ready for dinner, a lone piper started playing in the garden, loved it!
The food was very good and the staff were brilliant. We stayed at the Three Chimneys the week previously and felt the staff were too 'goody goody' the staff here were professional and very down to earth. You could happily stand next to them in a bar and chat away. The room was fairly expensive but we really enjoyed our stay and out of the Three Chimneys and Culloden house, we would go back to Culloden house in an instant. Beautiful location.

We were very excited to stay at Culloden house. we had just spent a week at Boath House in nearby Nairn. When you pull into the drive you certainly aren't disappointed with the stunning approach to the beautiful house. The staff at reception are very friendly and welcoming and quickly whisked our bags into the suite we had reserved for the night. The room was huge but sparsely decorated, we were hoping to be surrounded with period furniture appropriate to the building. Sadly there was only a little of this, the bathrooms were tiny in contrast to the room and felt more at home in a travel lodge. The bed however was very comfortable and we were treated to a beautiful sunset looking over the front gardens.

The lounge and bar areas were comfortable but again the decor left you feeling they could be so much better. A lot of the furniture looked like it was from your local wetherspoons pub with pub-esque tables and fake silver/plastic placemats.

We has reserved dinner for 2 and enjoyed several hours in the dining room. the food was delicious and we really enjoyed 3 courses with some good wines.

I think the Culloden house could be fantastic but doesn't justify the price tag they are currently charging. An investment/upgrade in the overall decor, a serious look at the rooms/bathrooms and a general tidy up would really help this hotel live up to it's history and true potential.

Oh dear, I am sorry you didnt enjoy your stay with us, if only you had mentioned your dislike of the bedroom to myself or one of our team we would have gladly shown you other rooms which might have suited you better. Every year the owners commit funds to refurbishment and Ill ensure I bring your review to their attention.

We are delighted you enjoyed dinner, hopefully enough to draw you back and sample our new Tasting menu & Wine Flight??

We visited Culloden House last Saturday and were very impressed. The A listed building is gorgeous and the staff were the friendliest and most helpful we have encountered in a long while. When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite which we were very pleased about. Before we could say a word our bag had been taken up to our room which was very spacious with a lovely lounge area with a fireplace. The bedroom was very spacious as was the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was spotless.
We ate at 7.30pm in the dining room which was very grand, and the service was second to none. We both chose the 4 course Scottish menu that was on that evening and it was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. They had no problem at all catering to my partner's wheat allergy.
The next morning we were given a complimentary Sunday newspaper. The breakfast was just as good as the dinner the night before with lots of lovely and quite unusual things to chose from. They even managed to produce (at short notice) some gluten free bread for my partner. We walked around the walled garden which has recently been refurbished and can just imagine how lovely this would be on a sunny Summer's day.
All in all a fabulous experience and definitely somewhere we will go back to.

Room Tip: Our room was number 15 and had two lovely big windows overlooking the rear garden which also a croqu...

The team was over the moon that we managed to make your stay first class! Thank you for taking the time to submit a review and share your experience.

The Walled Garden is a fantastic feature and Andy & Cyril work hard to ensure that it is in pristine condition through out the season, Ill pass on your kind comments.

We have recently just launched a Tasting menu to replace our Taste of Scotland menu and have complimented it with a Wine Flight, the dining experience has been turned up yet another notch and I am sure you will enjoy it next time you are with us.

We were traveling wtih our two daughters on a 6 week trip of Scotland and the Highlands. Several nights at the Culloden House were among the highlights of that adventure! The folks there made us feel like we were among family with the warmest of welcomes and attention. Nothing was left to chance or lack of attention as they provided an impeccable level of service at every turn. From the wonderful food to the cleanliness of the room we felt comfortable beyond description. It would be hard to find any fault with this absolutely top level faciltiy and staff. They were terrific at accomodating the food fussiness of two young girls while providing an epicurean delight accross the board in the restaurant. Apologies for the delay in the review.
