We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our room was in the new annex with a patio out back. It was a Saturday night and there was a traditional Scottish wedding going on in the garden. The room was large and the bathroom was especially nice compared to other places we stayed. It was stocked with very nice products, including washcloths. We ate dinner in the restaurant - no great experience but convenient and OK. Breakfast was traditional fare. The only knock on this hotel is the location. We had a car so it wasn't a problem to drive to downtown Inverness. Without a car, this wouldn't be your best choice.

We stayed in the Garden building and the room for our family of four was perfect. It was roomy (including 2 queen-sized beds), clean, and comfortable. It was pricey (in fact more expensive than any hotel we stayed at on a 2 1/2 week vacation to Ireland and UK - including a hotel in Westminster area of London) however when we started investigating, it was the norm for Inverness. It is a very touristy town which means higher prices for the tourists, I guess! Having said that, the hotel and staff was very good.

We stayed at Lochardil House Hotel for five days in late July to early August in 2011. This hotel is situated half an hours walk, or a £6 cab drive from the centre of Inverness. It is located in a somewhat posh part of the outskirts of Inverness, in a peaceful and secluded area.

The service is excellent, from the reception, the restaurant to the room-cleaning service. We stayed in a junior suite, with a lounge area and small patio. We loved the small touches, like you can get a complementary bathrobe, or a shaving kit (I forgot mine at home). Also, there is no minibar, but a small fridge with complementary water bottles - something we liked very much since we could store own snacks and chilled drinks there. There was also a selection of teas and coffee for self-serving (one can also order from the restaurant).

We loved our stayed here and will stay here again if we come back to Inverness (which we hope to do).

Room Tip: Junior suite in the wing was very good

I booked very last minute as our travel plans had changed. We needed a late check in, in fact due to late Stornoway ferry it was 2 am when we reached the hotel. The night porter gave clear instructions on the phone when we got lost and was waiting for us. We had a lovely room in the Garden wing. The bed was soooo comfortable. The room was well equipped and the shower was fantastic. Breakfast was delicious. The staff were polite and helpful. We will return and for more than one night.

We stayed here for one night on our way back up from a wedding in the borders and the first thing we noticed was the very welcome peace and quiet. There is plenty of car-parking space right at the door of the hotel. The receptionist was pleasant and friendly and we were given an upgrade to a garden wing room in the new building. The room was really spacious with a lovely, big modern bathroom and a great shower. It would have been nice to have had a bath to relax in too. The room had French doors which opened onto a patio with a seating area and extensive and very well-kept gardens. We intended to sit out on the patio with a drink but the heavens opened that night! We had dinner in the conservatory restaurant and really enjoyed it. We also ate breakfast in the conservatory the following morning. There was a really nice selection of food which you could help yourself to and authentic Stornoway black pudding! The hotel has an old-fashioned feel and we found the service, food and overall experience to be very good quality. There was a wedding in the main building of the hotel the night we stayed and while we weren't disturbed by it at all, we noticed that the entrance to the new building seemed to a smokers' haven, particularly in wet weather and this may have disturbed the peace and quiet for rooms nearby. Little touches like providing umbrellas at the doors of the main building and the new building helped add to the feeling of comfort and old-fashioned luxury. We'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Garden wing rooms are new, quiet, peaceful and have French doors leading to the garden.

We ended up here at the last minute after my 14 year old daughter and I arrived at the Loch Ness Country House expecting to stay there, only to be told that there had been a mix up and that we didn't have a reservation after all. Loch Ness called this hotel, and they had 1 room left which we took. The Lochardi House Hotel was wonderful. They were waiting for us, were sorry for our having to scramble, and they were thrilled to have us at their hotel. Despite being classified as a Best Western, I was told that this is a family run and owned property, and it shows. Our room was pretty and HUGE, with a wonderfully large and clean bathroom. Lots of amenities in the room, including a large tv which my daughter loved. Breakfast was great, too. I think things worked out for the best here, and would stay again.
