“The Kids enjoyed it - eventually”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

I have read the previous reviews about bluntness and rudeness. I can only assume that this is directed at the instructor who hails from Yorkshire. I was stationed in Yorkshire whilst in the RAF so know what they mean. However, they mean no offence and it is just their way. I found the helpful and yes abrupt. It was disappointing that because one of the children was a little tiny it meant that they went on the canal instead of the loch. That is the problem with events involving a group. The instructor has to be guided by the least experienced and knowledgeable. It meant the my grandchildren didn't have the experience they had hoped but nonetheless enjoyed it. As a parent or grandparent I would have liked more information. It took an age for them to get kitted up mainly because they only have one changing facility and as my granddaughter was the only girl they had to wait for her to change before they could. then some of the children were so small they struggled to get ready. We were the told that they would be kayaking at the top of Neptune's Staircase so we drove up there to meet them only to find ourselves alone. They were in fact at the bottom of Neptune's Staircase. Anyway, that sorted the kids enjoyed it.

We have just got back from a fantastic canoe trip in Scotland, unfortunately the trip was spoilt to a degree by the grumpy approach taken by the proprietors of this business. Without going into detail, the approach of the business owner was rude and insulting to us from start to finish. There is a distinct line between dry good natured black humour which is often found with adventure training instructors the world over and that of blatant rudeness and arrogance. The proprietor of this business has clearly got this wrong and whilst being very experienced and highly qualified in outdoor activities would do well to go on customer service course to learn how to speak to people properly without lecturing them and taking no interest in anyone other than himself. It is a real shame because the courses and accommodation offered look great, but if the attitude of the owners doesn't improve then I couldn't recommend this business under any circumstances.

Our family of four was greeted by an unhelpful and grumpy lady, and it took her 15 minutes to check us in. She informed us in a rude manner that she was not our mother, thus she was not going to clean after us, obviously... To our complain about the poor state of room she replied it did not matter anyway. Whe begged her for clothes hangers as the room had none, but she refused to help. She also refused to provide any discount, saying 'i dont think so'... None of the fridges actually chilled food. Avoid under all circumstances!
