We paid a high price for our first night away together in a hotel, we thought by the website and photos we were in for a treat - not a dissapointment! On first glance the hotel looks lovely from the outside and has perfect setting looking out to the castle. However the room was very dissapointing, our major problem was a leaking toilet! Absolutely disgusting and the first person we complained too told us there was nothing he could do and walked away. We went and complained to the manager who told us he could not give us another room but would get someone to fix it for us (9pm at night this was done) and would give us a complimentary drink down in the bar. You can imagine our horror when we realised we had been charged for our "free" drinks!! The bedding nor the room has the luxurious feel you would expect for the price we paid. The only plus was the food for breakfast was lovely. I would not recommend this hotel - too expensive and the staff attitude is not well.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for completing a review on the Best Western Inverness Palace Hotel & Spa

I’m sorry the toilet leaked in your room. We were fully booked on the night you stayed, this meant we were unable to offer you another room. Unfortunately maintenance problems can occur and some, like a leaky toilet can only be dealt with when they arise, even at 9pm at night.

I can assure you that it’s not our normal practice for staff to walk away from guests and this has already been addressed.

I apologise your billing information being incorrect, this was a mistake and I can assure you it was not intentional to charge you for those complimentary drinks. I was delighted to hear that you enjoyed our superb quality breakfast, we get many good comments on our 54 choice buffet breakfast.

I am sorry you thought we were overpriced and would like to encourage you to come back and try us again. I am confident we can change your opinion of our hotel. If you wish to do so please contact me directly and I can assist you.

Kindest Regards

This place looks fabulous from the front and is in a great location - you can walk easily to town or along the Ness River. The hotel boasts a large swimming pool and spa - however the overwhelming fumes of chlorine seem to pervade the ground floor. Not pleasant. The elevator was out of order when we stayed so it was a bit of a hike with luggage up to our room. The place was very clean, however desperately in need of refurbishment. The building itself is great with lots of potential, but at the moment it just looks a little tired.

The staff were friendly and booking etc was straightforward. A warning that if you are driving there is a tiny carpark and we frequently found this full. I would not go for the breakfast option - below average, burnt toast and all! There are other options nearby, so go for one of those.

We had pre booked two stays a few days apart, as we were driving north for part of our trip. On our return we were upgraded to a more expensive room which was much better than our original one. A great view of the castle across the river and much better appointed. It was still a little tired, but very clean and comfortable.

This hotel was fine for our purposes, but we would probably look at other options next time we are in Inverness.

Having stayed in this hotel for a number of years both my husband and myself love it.We have stayed for weekend breaks flying in to Inverness from the Isle of Man or for an overnight stay whilst we are in another area of Scotland .The staff are super and it is a super loction right near the shops .The added advantage is the Leisure Club open at 7am.Always feel at home here .

We stayed in the Palace Hotel for two nights in June and very much enjoyed it. Nice size rooms (upgraded to the River view and it was worth it) and great location for exploring Inverness. Good breakfast in the hotel and nice lounge. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This was part of a cruise holiday, so there was little choice. The hotel is so tired as are the majority of the staff. Our room was quite small and the bathroom barely adequate. We had 2 dinners that were included in our package and they were appalling. Shame really as the position must be one of the finest in Inverness!
