“Scotland Break”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2013

Staid 2 night good city centre location on the river facing the castle. Clean comfortable twin room .. Spa looked good . Food good but it needed to be hotter breakfast plenty of choice but once again needs to be hotter.Staff friendly. Bar service was a little slow at times staff seem to be somewhere else.

The Palace Hotel is one of the few hotels in Inverness that happily accommodate pets and don't charge for the privilage. This is the main reason we stay here whenever in town. However the hotel has many other great features, clean, comfy, spacious rooms with huge beds. Good food reasonably priced with specials on offer for both food and drink. Fab pool and gym, great location for shops, and sightseeing. Faces onto the River Ness which is a nice walk in the evening when it is all lit up. Very limited parking on site, but once you have unloaded just hand the keys in and they will park up your vehicle, just let them know when you would like it available and they will bring it back to the valet parking area, all this at no extra cost. We have stayed there recently on the past three weekends and have been well looked after each time. There are other good hotels in Inverness but the Pooch friendly Palace to us is just that.

Room Tip: Rooms in the wing are great for access with dogs. Room 411 nice big window and spacious.

My wife and I stayed to the Palace recently, and were welcomed by the staff warmly and treated very well, the food, breakfast was excelent in particular the poached eggs, so many times such a simple dish is over done, not here perfect! the evening meal was also up to a high standard, you knew where the beef was from, no horses here no, no. The spa is great fun and relaxing. It is rated as a 3* I would offer it up for a 4*. Thank you. D

Room Tip: Third floor room where you can view the splendid roof scenes

Booked this hotel thru Superbreak which was inclusive of train from Doncaster, it turned out to be a great deal, even taking into account the 7 hour journey. The hotel whilst not modern was clean, great friendly staff, and a great breakfast selection. Room furniture rather dated but it had a huge bed, and we both had good nights sleep, very quiet, no real view but you only sleep in your room and I am sure the price reflects this. The hotel is situated a 5 to 8 minute walk from the station, along side the river, which at night is lit by the lights on the trees which stretch the length of the river. Big regret we did not hire a car for the couple of days to see more of the area

Restaurant has been done up and looks excellant. The food was as goos as ever. The restaurant staff are brilliant and extremely hard working. It's good to see the same staff still there from our previous visits. Obviously highly regarded by the management !!!!

Excellent location, nice and quiet and close to Inverness City
Car parking a bit of a problem at the Hotel at times but found it easy to park with plenty of spaces in a side road at the back.
Food very good, rooms very clean and all the staff where very pleasant and helpful.
Can't comment on the leisure facilities as we did use them
Would come back again

Friendly staff and a lovely hotel. Rooms were a little dated but clean and the bed was HUGE! The spa is not so much a spa you can loll about for the day but a good pool, sauna, steam room and a basic gym. Did not try out the spa treatments so unable to comment. The restaurant has an outstanding view, very comfortable and served nice food from a simple menu. It is well located with restaurants and shops on your door step, also on the riverside. Parking is limited but if you can not get parked you simply leave your car in the valet section and you keys with the hotel. If they need to move your car you just need to let them know when you want it for and it will be ready. I can not fault the staff, hotel or food for the price we paid. I would say this is at the top end of a 3* and better than some 4* hotels.
