“Enjoyable stay at Dinichean House”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2013

We stayed for two nights at Dinichean House, where the guest accommodation has it's own entrance and lounge area. There are only two guest bedrooms which was perfect as we were two couples travelling together so we had it to ourselves!

The house was built in 2010 to a very high standard, both in the look of the finish and it's 'green' credentials. It's very well insulated, heated by bio-mass boiler from the trees in the grounds and water is their own mineral water. The rooms are very comfortable, complete with king size beds, Sky TV, hairdryer, tea/coffee etc and en-suite. Also provided in the room is a decanter of port and some shortbread which was a lovely touch. Everything is sparkling clean and the towels are lovely and soft.

The lounge/breakfast room has comfy sofas and a CD player so you can happily relax there. There are also wine glasses and a corkscrew/bottle opener provided if you fancy taking your own tipple. Carol very kindly put some beers in the fridge for us during the day so we could have a chilled beer in the evening.

You need to make your choices for breakfast the night before, and the breakfast was lovely. The only thing I expected when I read cereal/fruit/yoghurt on offer was a slightly bigger selection or some fruit salad rather than only whole fruits but that really wasn't an issue. The porridge was lovely!

My only reason for giving a rating of 4 rather than 5 is due to three very small points. There was no mobile signal or wi-fi available, the bed only had a duvet on it (no top sheet) and as it was during Scotland's heatwave when we visited this made for a hot night! And finally, there are lots of midges outside which I know is not the fault of our hosts!

Apart from those tiny things, we had a lovely stay and Carol is a fabulous host who knows how much attention to give her guests and when to give them space. Thank you!

Room Tip: The burgandy and cream room has the best views to see the deer

My wife and I stayed at the Dinichean House in May of 2011. It's situated fairly close to Inverness and is a good balance between privacy and being close to town. There are beautiful woods surrounding the newly built house and huge Scottish Red deer linger on the edge.
The guest rooms have a private entrance and are extremely nice. In our 2 weeks in Scotland and Ireland, this was by far our favorite place we stayed. Carol is a wonderful cook, and an excellent hostess. She can tell you the sights to see and can answer any question you might have. If you stay there I would highly recommend talking with Trevor as well, he has a wealth of information about the local area, history (to include the nearby Culloden battlefield) and Scottish politics.
I can't say enough good things about the Dinichean House. One day we will return to Scotland and we plan on staying with Carol and Trevor again we enjoyed it that much.
Thanks for the great experience!

We stayed at Dinichean House Bed and Breakfast for two glorious nights in August 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This B&B has all the bells and whistles of a 5-star establishment and much, much more.

It has only recently been built and we enjoyed all the mod-cons new accommodation provides including luxurious ensuite bathrooms with divine power showers. It has also been built with the environment and conservation in mind without compromising on comfort or luxury - perfect.

Carol our host has exceptional taste and the accommodation is very stylish. All rooms are beautifully appointed, have incredibly high ceilings and wonderful views of the surrounding woodlands. The accommodation has been designed to be ‘separate’ from the main house and has its own entrance, which was fantastic. The two bedrooms also have an adjoining dining and lounge area. It’s almost like being in an apartment within the main house.

The breakfast is second to none, and Carol excels at a full cooked Scottish breakfast which we would highly recommend. We loved it so much that we are tracking down where to buy black pudding in Australia just to try to 're-live' the culinary experience.

A real treat during our stay was seeing the family of deer who live on the grounds and visit morning and night to be fed. We were so excited to see them as they were the only wild deer we saw during our two weeks in Scotland. Another treat was the delicious Scottish shortbread and lovely port thoughtfully provided in our rooms. Just the thing after a hard day of sight-seeing.

We also loved that Dinichean House is only a short drive from the chaos and noise of Inverness yet is perfectly positioned in a natural setting that has a really tranquil and relaxed feel about it. It is also very close to lots of great things to see and do including Cawdor Castle, the Culloden battlefields and a cruise around Loch Lomond, all of which we squeezed comfortably into two days.

Another highlight was the drive from Dinichean House into Inverness which takes you down a winding tree-lined country road, through thick woods, past a private castle, paddocks filled with highland cattle and then to the top of a hill with amazing views overlooking the town. It’s an adventure in itself.

We drove back to Dinichean House at sunset one evening and stopped to watch the sun set over Inverness and the surrounding rural area – it was breathtaking and the stuff that memories are made of!

If you want a beautiful B&B experience with a breakfast that surpasses all expectations then this is a perfect choice. Carol is incredibly welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us during our stay.

We would also highly recommend this accommodation for less mobile guests.

Thanks to Carol and her family for creating wonderful memories for us - you won't be forgotten.
