Having stayed at this hotel numerous times over the last few years. I can not praise it enough,
I must have over the years stayed in every room in the hotel ranging from the single rooms to the suites, and have never been dissapointed.
The Spa is slightly small but the most people I have seen in it at a time is about 4 it is perfect for relaxing in after a hectic day.
the food is very good and varied and if you want something different you only have to ask. All the staff are friendly and helpfull.
The hotel is situated an easy 10 min walk from Inverness castle and the town center.
As for it being tired I would prefer to say it has character,if I have a choice this is the hotel I stay in.

The Craigmonie is in a quiet residential area of Inverness and has the advantage of a pool which kept our grandchildren occupied. (Ten minutes walk to the shops but we took the car down and parked behind the cathedral.) The staff were friendly, polite and helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The food at breakfast and dinner was fine. However the hotel is falling to bits in places and is badly in need of an odd job man! It would take two minutes to stick on the peeling wallpaper in the breakfast room, our washbasin plug leaked and our window was either wide open or shut, no half measures and easily fixed. Don't let that put you off; we'd stay there again.

Room Tip: Hope you don't get the room above the extractor fan which goes on and off all night.

We had a family suite (258) and were plesently surprised. It was a 2 storey maisonette overlooking the pool. The ground floor had a double sofa bed (laid as a bed for us) 2 reasonably comfortable chairs, a table, a wall hung tv (with the usual suspect remote), a sink and tea/coffee facilities. There were patio doors looking on to the pool but these couldn't open. There was also a window in the sink area and to the other end of the room so was fairly light and definitely spacious.
Upstairs there was a large bedroom with a double wardrobe, dressing table and super king size bed. There was still room to put up our travel cot and move around unhindered. There was patio doors and a balcony overlooking the pool but these did not open and were purposefully blocked off by the dressing table. At the other side of the room was a good size velux window so, again, was light and spacious. As most of the windows throughout the suite opened fully, our room was cool and fresh throughout our stay.
The bathroom was a good size with a shower over the bath. The water pressure was good which meant a decent shower.
The furniture all looked reasonably modern and new. The decor was a little dated although clean and tidy. The carpet downstairs, and especially on the stairs, could really do with changing to make it a superb room.
I didn't go to the pool but my husband and children did and they had a good time made better as they had the pool to themselves for the hour they were there. Facilties were clean although a little tired, however the pool itself seemed very well maintained.
All the staff in the hotel that we had dealings with were excellent; very friendly, professional and helpful. We asked where to eat in town and were given a map and clear instructions how to get there. Breakfast was well cooked and tasty and seemed fresh for a buffet. Toast and coffee was quick to arrive. It was, however, extremely hot in the breakfast room so we were keen to leave as soon as we could.
We did not have the need to spend time in the main hotel, as our suite was accessed from outside, however I can see why other reviews state that it was in need for some tlc.
Overall, for room 258, we felt that the cost of £150 per night for b&b (there were 5 of us in the suite) was fair for the spaciousness of the room in a hotel with its own pool. This hotel is a 3* and not 4* as I have seen advertised in some places though. The Scottish Tourism signs displayed in the hotel confirm the 3* status.

I can't praise the hotel enough for their top class service throughout our son's wedding reception.
Faultless day with an excellent meal at the reception (quality, quantity and presentation). Function area is a little old-fashioned when seen without the usual wedding 'dressing' - but on the day looked brilliant. Nothing was an issue. Overnight stay and breakfast were also excellent - great, comfortable room with spotless bathroom. The staff of this hotel are absolutely superb. Any negative reviewers on here need to think again...this is an absolute gem of a hotel.

We stayed here for one night after travelling down from Achilitibuie so I could indulge myself with a little bit of retail therapy prior to travelling to a pre booked self catering cottage in Fort Augustus. When we arrived the staff at the hotel were very nice and friendly. The hotel itself is very traditional and hosts a lovely conservatory for one of it's restaurants. It has good spacious parking and a lovely little garden to the right of the front entrance where you can sit out and enjoy a nice glass of vino or have a beer. While we were staying there was a wedding party and it was fun to watch all the guests and see the groom and bride and the entertainment including a Piper.A good spacious car park area in the hotel grounds was a bonus.

Our Room - Although only small and quite basic with the usual tea/coffee facilities very clean and good value for money .Had a comfortable bed plus a window which opened out wide which was welcome due to the hot weather. The room was very quite and we had a great sleep.

Food - We had our breakfast after using the pool .The breakfast area is nice and intimate and my husbands smoked haddock was cooked to order and he thought it was delicious.I emailed the hotel to request a plate of smoked salmon/ham/cheese and tomatoes and had a lovely breakfast with no extra charge .They even filled up my thermos with coffee for the next leg of our trip.

The Leisure Club- Great pool .It opens up from 7.00 to 21.00.There are no lifeguards and all you have to do is collect your towels from the main hotel reception sign in and sign out.Children
need to be accompanied by an adult. If you want to use the Sauna you need to let reception know so it can be heated up.The hotel also does Spa Day packages with beauty treatments which of course need to be pre booked. Didn't use the gym but it has several aerobic and weight machines.

Conclusion- Lovely hotel would certainly stay again. You can purchase lovely bracelets/necklaces etc from reception all locally produced and reasonably priced - have a look at the display to the left of the hotel reception desk.

Had the pleasure of staying in this very nice hotel . Lovely welcome , nice dining area and my room was in an annexe at the back which was so nice. Refurbished room , nice and bright with big velox windows. (love them ) and the comfiest bed ever. I slept like a baby. Lovely breakfast with friendly staff. So nice and traditional but not stuffy. Makes a change from the modern travelodges type hotels. Nice walk into town as its a tree avenue. I would stay again.
