“Great value for money in Inverness' friendliest hotel.”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We've just returned from our second stay at the Craigmonie and am delighted to say we weren't disappointed. The staff are very friendly and the whole atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed and friendly. Whatever we asked for was supplied and while breakfast is self-service, a member of staff spotted me struggling with a crutch and the plate, he stepped in and helped serve me, carrying the plate to the table. 10/10!!!

We only had breakfasts in the hotel but 10/10 there as well. Good quality food well cooked and as much as you needed.

The rooms we've been in were extremely comfortable and finished to a good spec. We had a huge super king-size bed both times which were both new and extremely comfortable. They were kept immaculately clean. The bar and public areas likewise were kept clean and very tidy. One of the highlights for me was the pool which though getting a bit old now was well maintained and lovely and warm. There's also a Sauna and spa facilities if you're that way minded.

All in all a fantastic break!

Down side? We weren't there longer!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Craigmonie hotel for a girlie weekend in Inverness. From the minute we entered the hotel we were given a warm welcome by the staff Neil, Marianne and Daniel. We were shown to our twin room which was clean and warm. I understand they are currently upgrading some rooms. We had dinner in the bar area and the service from Megan was first class as was the food. After a lovely nights sleep we enjoyed a wonderful buffet style cooked breakfast. Had either of us had been organised we would have enjoyed a leisurely swim in the hotels pool, this will be a good reason to visit again .

I had booked two rooms for our stay. Booked one through a website and the other with the hotel direct. Cost through the website high but ok, the cost booking direct with the hotel was higher! I paid less money for a nicer hotel room in Edinburgh as few days later. Staff friendly but would not stay there again unless it had a major revamp to warrant the high prices. Other clientele were mostly on package holidays who were paying substantially less then we did so did not seem to mind about the lack of maintenance and the dated decor.

The hotel is easy to finde is centrally located and has ample parking.
Very service-set peronal. Good kitchen. Low noise at rommene.Ligger in walking distance to downtown. We got good money for your currency.

Room Tip: The rooms suited against the garden

I have stayed in this hotel four or five times over the last 20 years and always seen it as a treat to myself. Granted I havent stayed here for what must be 8 years or so, but I was disappointed at the lack of maintenance and the way the hotel has been left to go. We treated ourselves to a stay in one of their finer rooms.. Room 114, the bed had what looked like pallets poking out from underneath to support it.

The weather at the time was hot, so the room was warm, we had to sleep with the windows wide open,, and was surprised to find the curtains on the outside of the window did not meet by about 6 inches in the middle, but far to warm to close the windows to allow the inner curtains to be closed. This room overlooks the alluminium venting system from the kitchen so the added noise from it and the fumes, led to a very uncomfortable night.

The Bathroom door had swollen and had to be forced open and closed, the shower leaked down the bath, through the bath screen, and the rotting was an obvious eyesore. When in the shower I went to adjust the shower head and realised that the entire arm supporting it would come down, it was hardly secured into the tiles.

On arrival we were advised to use the back stairs to access our room, (this turned out to be the long route) the carpets on these stairs are all fraying at the edges. The hotel room door next to us, room 113 had the remains of a tin of paint spilt on it.

Breakfast was lovely, I have to say, but was distracting with the staff showing (trying to be discreet) photos on phones, and discussing who was being 'tagged'. Disappointed, what was a lovely hotel to me, no longer is.. I wont be back. Very over priced for what we recieved.

Friendly staff who were very helpful. I was leaving too early for breakfast so they arranged a 'take away' of sandwiches, fruit, crisps & a drink. The room was comfortable and I'd certainly think about staying here again.

Based on what I had to pay for a B&B the other side of the river and very central...this hotel is extremely good value and the location is super. Quiet, leafy and within a walking distance of the town centre.
