Owner description: Inverness Hop-on Hop-off open top City Sightseeing bus tours are the perfect way to see Inverness. Inverness is the Capital of the Highlands of Scotland. Recorded history goes back to 565AD. Let us take you to see the historic buildings of Church Street, through the shopping area and along the River Ness past the cathedral to Bught Park. We continue on to see the Caledonian Canal Locks and visit Holm Mills shopping village.

what a beautiful, magical area of scotland. The Ben Nevis mountain range is nothing short of spectacular. When we were there, the mountains were a beautiful shade of purple (really!) and they seemed to envelope our car as we drove through a long, long canyon. Our drive lasted about an hour and every turn was unbelievable. The clouds hung low over the tips of the mountains and you felt as though you were alone in an "other world". There was very, very little trafftic. I think we stumbled on to an etheral, gorgeous, unreal place. If at all possible, GO!! you will not be disappointed. There is beauty we can sometimes only imagine....Glenco will show it to you!!!

Pre purchased 2 adult tickets for Sunday 22nd September 2013.

We waited with others at the designated stop at the bus station.
At the due time the open top bus roared into the station, failed to stop, we with others had to run shouting and waving our arms. When the driver did stop his excuse was, " there was a bus already at the stance".

Next the commentary wasn't in sync so we missed some of what was being spoken about.

Also the commentary was via small speakers rather than the usual head phones which meant that if sitting on the upper deck outside, the quality of the audio was badly affected by the sound of wind and traffic so again customers missed some of what was being said.

Inverness is visited by many nationalities some of whom either do not speak English or have a poor understanding but City Sightseeing commentary is only provided in English. ( You don't discover this until you have boarded the bus).

On Chapel street the commentary mentions non existing mosaics on a derelict building, I can only guess they meant painted murals?

Better and cheaper to walk around the city.

Would I recommend City Sightseeing Inverness to others intending visiting that beautiful city? NO!

We did a city sightseeing tour upon arrival to help get out bearings and it was a great way to see the sights and earmark points of interest you would like to perhaps spend time visiting,

We were late to go to the Jacobite Cruise and she saved us with her advices. Thank you Sue for your smile and your help !
The city sightseeing is a very good way to see what the city is when you arrive.

It is a short trip- but you can make it longer if you hop on hop off as it's name suggests. For those who get on but cannot listen carefully, you are instructed to press the bell once if you wish to stop at a particular point. If you are unable to walk very far it is an ideal way to get to see the city. Walking around as being the best way to see the sights, as one contributor suggests, is not an option for us so we decided to take the bus.
By the way both of our drivers were fine. One even avoided a collision when a driver came round a bend on the wrong side - well done. They were also happy to wait whilst my wife took time getting off- they even said please take your time- so we can't grumble.
