“Disappointed”
Reviewed 12 December 2012

Only good thing about this hotel is the location. Its walkable to the town centre. This hotel needs gutted and redesigned and upgraded. My single room was so tiny and my friends room was in the basement with inadequate lighting he could not read. Locks on bedroom door old fashioned and not easy to use.
Paper thin walls so you could hear peoples conversations easily (not good if workmen/construction people staying and most of their conversation consists of swearing). It feels like all areas of space are utilised to the max.
The reception area is the main thoroughware and when you are standing checking in with your cases you are in the way of diners and staff. Not a good reception.
Breakfast was ok. Rooms got cleaned well but much to our amusement the dining room was not hoovered for breakfast time and there was a massive stain on the carpeted floor from the party the night before. Unprofessional.
Dont stay here just now if you want a peaceful night. Lots of xmas parties and its even more noisy because of the thin walls. Suits trade people or those having a night out themselves.

I had occasion to stay in Inverness and this hotel was recommended to me. I was warmly received on arrival and was immediately upgraded. As a woman travelling on her own on this occasion the hotel was friendly and informal. It is well situated for the centre of town and the room was spacious and clean. I ate in the conservatory dining room early evening and had a salmon dish. It was very good, cost and service was excellent. I stayed the following week and the owner was not on site. The service was a little hap hazzard and there was much chatter during service from the waitresses which was slightly off putting as a guest. Breakfast on both occasions was very good and plenty of choice. I found the hotel overall good value for money.

Room Tip: I had a room facing the city centre which had a lovely view.

Went here recently for a meal. Service horrendously slow and ordered a bottle of wine, by going to the bar, to pass the time. Menu indicated tao course meal with a glass of wine for £12something. Ordered a starter and main course. Startec was a risotto which was cooked very well but far too salty. The main was supposed to be a salmon dish with spinach. I was disappointed to receive a dish consisting of overcooked salmon and prawns on a bed or hard green beans only to plow through them did i find spinach. The inclusive glass of wine never appeared. The serving staff were very pleasant, the service itself was horrendously slow no explaination given. Too many tables crammed into the conservatory to the extent it was awful trying to excuse yourself to get out to either the bar or toilet. I would not choose to go to this restaurant as it is. You will probably get an okay meal but the length of service is horrific but cold be made bearable if you were given some bread and oils or something similar but more importantly, an explanation. I wouldnt go back here unless a friend or family member really wnted too.

Room Tip: I didnt stay here but had a meal in the restUrant. And the only tip i would give is to make y Sure...

Recently I took my family to the the Redcliffe Hotel for High Tea.Our first course was served quite quickly and was reasonable. We were then kept waiting for more than twenty minutes before the cakes and scones were served.
We were told the delay was because the scones had just come out of the oven!! We would not have minded waiting if someone had just taken the time to explain the delay to us.
The staff definitely lack communication skills!!
I won't be making a return visit when there are so many good restaurants in Inverness.

Our bed was so uncomfortable, we hardly slept at all. The mattress felt like it had no support at all. We had gotten a room with a pull out sofa, which wasn't set up when we arrived. We decided to just see how sleeping In the bed went, and ended up at midnight trying to get the sofa bed set up. But that was even worse than the bed. We made do and were glad to leave the next day, the bathroom looks great, newly remodeled, but we struggled for hot water, we expected more the price we were paying.
