“Wonderful hotel”
Reviewed 21 June 2008

We only stayed at the Redcliffe one night on a two week trip to Europe, but wished we had planned to stay longer. We had a nice room for 4 with a king bed, sofe bed (double) and they brought in a roll-away single. It was a little cramped, but gave our college age kids their own bed each. We had a nice view of the castle. The furnishings are new, the bath renovated, and there was a large plasma TV. We especially enjoyed the restaurant and bar. The owner couldn't have been more helpful. They have room to park cars and a nice terrace. We thought it was the best place we stayed. We would definitely recommend the Redcliffe Hotel and would love to stay there again.

I had the pleasure of staying at this small hotel recently with my family. We found the facilities to be very good. The room was large and newly decorated. The bed was so comfy!!!. The only thing we missed in our family room was a bath as we have a 7 month old baby.(She liked the shower however) All of the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The food in the restaurant was fantastic.

My wife and 2 teenage daughters and I just returned from a 2 week tour of Great Britain in which we stayed in 7 different hotels and B&B's. We spent 2 nights at the Redcliffe at the end of May and enjoyed it very much. The room was large enough for a double bed and foldout couch and had a flat panel large TV on the wall. The bathroom had obviously been recently renovated and was very modern. Breakfast is included and is a full Scottish breakfast. We had one dinner there that was very satisfactory. It also has a pub/bar. The majority of the restaurant clientele seemed to be from the surrounding neighborhood which is rather ritzy given the nice views of the city.

It was one of the most reasonably priced places we stayed. Highlights were the location (it was a 5 minute walk to the shopping district and only a couple more blocks to the train station), the condition of the room/bathroom, restaurant, and helpfulness of the new owners (2 different taxi drivers mentioned the new owners favorably). The low would be that although it sits on a hill above the city, the view is blocked by houses.

This is not a luxury hotel, but was very comfortable, clean and safe for the price. Cost for the large family room for 4 with breakfast was about 125 pounds sterling per night. If you have a normal amount of luggage, I would recommend taking a taxi from the train station when you arrive. Otherwise, you can walk anywhere in town you want to go.

I've already recommended it to my neighbor who is planning a trip this fall.

Hotel appearance was dissapointing on arrival.........pictures greatly improve the look of the hotel.....rooms are compact but adequately furnished, although the TV is rather on the small side and badly sited. Lots of stairs to the rooms, making it difficult with heavy luggage. Food is decent and service is very pleasant.
