“Top Notch - Highly Recommended!”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

My wife an I spent an enjoyable evening at the White Lodge entirely by accident. The room was assigned to us by our tour company during an overnight stay in the Highlands. Upon arrival, we noticed the perfectly manicured lawn and garden, and the charming Tudor-Style cottage. We were greeted by Maggie, who was personable and charming. She showed us to our beautiful room, and discussed the things to see and do in town.

In the morning, we were served a delicious breakfast, and were able to talk to the owners, Maggie and Jackie for a little bit. They are wonderful and good people who treated us like family instead of strangers. Our biggest regret is not being able to stay longer. We will definitely spend more time in Inverness on our next trip, and will not consider staying anywhere else but The White Lodge. Thank you Maggie and Jackie we look forward to seeing you both again!

It is excelent considering it a B&B that deliberas exactly what is promised. I stayed for 1 nigth in a small double en-suite room with breakfast. It was exactly this, small, but perfect room for one person. Spotless, with a small but efective space with a great shower. The ladylord was extremely attentive and helpful, suggesting places to go. Simple and honest breaksfast - fresh fruits, juices, yogurt, toast, eggs, cereals, in a charming room. If you do not want to spend a lot and is looking for a copy ambiance it may be your option.

Room Tip: Extremely quiet city. I do not know the other ones, but I have stayed in number 5 and it was perfect...

Prior reviews reflected our one night experience. Meg the proprietress was friendly and chatty but quite rigid. Rearranged our luggage once we got into room. She couldn't understand why a family on vacation wouldn't be ready for breakfast at 7:30 pacing about nervously at 8:15 fretting about whether wife would be down on time. It was more cute than annoying but nevertheless noteworthy.
Place was immaculately clean, and beds comfortable.
Best for early risers!!!

We had to have a room at the last minute and Visit Scotland got us this room. It was an adequate size, but the bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen. The soap in the soap dispenser had been diluted so much that it was impossible to use it without the soap running onto the floor. There was supposed to be ice in the fridge on the landing, but the fridge was not switched on. Breakfast was 7.30 to 8.30 with checkout being 9.30! The landlady told us there was cereal, fruit juice, fruit, toast and tea or coffee for breakfast and would we want anything else!! We asked for a cooked breakfast and it appeared in the morning without being asked what we wanted, but we got the impression she would have been happier had we not requested it.
The landlady was very friendly and the place was spotlessly clean, but I would not ever want to return.

On arrival told to park down the road. Room small, only one low hard pillow each and heavy duvet supplied in hot weather, did not sleep. Leaving early told to buy sandwiches from down the road. Was given yogurt, banana and crisps as we were leaving too early for breakfast needing to catch coach. The guest house was very clean and attractive. Shower Unit adequate. Expensive compared to other guest houses we had stayed in.

Room Tip: Try to see rooms before booking if possible

I stayed here on a motorcycle trip to Scotland. The room was warm, well equipped with a comfortable bed. A great breakfast and a friendly landlady (like being looked after by my Mum!). Easy to walk into town and a nice secure place to park your bike by the front door off the road. Recommended!

I stayed at this fantastic Guest House for a week while on a placement and really couldn't have found a better place if I had tried!! They were both so welcoming and helpful from start to finish and couldn't have asked for better hosts. I didn't feel uncomfortable one bit. The rooms were great and so well equipped with a lovely comfy bed that I could have slept in for ages given half the chance. The breakfast they provide is fantastic - a great spread catering for a wide variety of tastes and so accommodating especially in my case for my extra early starts. The house is very idyllic and situated perfectly for exploring Inverness. I would definitely stay there again and personally found Maggie and Jackie Macrae to be lovely genuine people with great sense of humours.
