I booked Macnabs for a lunch with colleagues. Beautiful day so outside tables busy, dining room quiet, which suited us as we wanted a catch up. Ordered our food at the bar, (after a bit of a wait and being ignored by the waiter stocking the bar) menu looked lovely, mainly sandwiches and soup.
50 minutes later we were still waiting. Having chased up the order and explained that we had to get back to work, met with disinterest and the distinct impression our order had been forgotten. One hour after ordering food arrived - sandwiches ok, soup cold as was pasta. Soup returned with a grudging offer to re heat. Waitress could not care less. On settling bill, turned out waitress also could not work till and had to call for help. A minimum number of poorly trained, surly waiters to one busy bistro at the height of the tourist season is not the way to go! We will not be back, and Macnabs obviously feel they do not need our trade.

“pre booked for a large group”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Very poor service, bar staff lacked knowledge of a dry wine!! Bar was poorly stocked, no prosecco at all which had been asked for at time of booking, for a few bottles to be ready chilled!!
We were a large group and had pre booked weeks earlier.Food average, although chips were a little undercooked.
staff rude and only two working bar and meals at a very busy Friday Lunchtime!! Plenty of other bars and restaurants in Inverness to go to, sad that this one is in such a high tourist spot, sure to spoil the image of Inverness!!

Grumpy, ungrateful service.

Food all arrived at different times. One of our party's main course wasn't put through - no apology or attempt to rectify mistake. Another dish had a piece of paper from the kitchen in it! Again no apology or attempt to rectify.

Possibly one of the most embarrassing meals I've ever had the misfortune to partake in.

Avoid McNab's like the plague. There're much nicer, more deserving places in Inverness to eat and drink.

“Nice atmosphere”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Nothing to dislike. We wanted to watch the England world cup game and the staff put it on the large tv for us. A group of travellers joined us and the atmosphere was very good. The group ordered food and it looked very nice.

“Good food. Worth a visit.”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We originally ate here last year whilst on holiday and knew how good the food was. I particularly enjoyed the salmon. They do a nice vegetable burger. The steak and ale pie was excellent with chips or potatoes.Lovely view of the castle espeecially if you choose to sit outside.Very pleasant staff.
