Contacted David Laidlaw by email and stated we wanted a tour north of Invergordon where our ship the Silver Shadow was docked. David picked up us with his 5 seat Mercedes with bucket seats. Drove north to see Millionaires view and then drove to Dunrobin castle, took an hour to see all the rooms! Missed the Falconry tour as it was cold and rainy. Went to Anta pottery and saw pottery and wovens. Had a great homemade soup and scone lunch there, great price. Drove along the small towns on the coast and to Fearn Abbey. Saw lots of sheep and cattle, and Grapeseed fields. David was a great guide, provided us with sips of Glen Moray single malt, shortbread, and fudge, and water. Next time we willl order better weather!! After 5 hours we were back on ship and happy we hired him.

During our recent 12 day British Isles cruise, my husband and I booked a private and custom itinerary with David Laidlaw of Scenic Routes to tour the beautiful Scottish Highlands while in port at Invergordon / Inverness. Our time with David was definitely one of the ultimate highlights of our vacation! David is obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about the area and offers historical and current information along the way – not to mention amazing experiences that are off the typical beaten path of the tour buses. We truly felt as though we were on a fabulous tour of the area with a friend or family member – no obtrusiveness – just a really friendly and fun time – all while in the lap of luxury – an immaculate Mercedez Benz vehicle complete with personal touches such as home-made shortbread, Scottish Tablet (so addictive!) and local whiskey (YUM!) He felt personally responsible for making sure we got to check off all the things we were hoping to do and see – and so much more (including a stop to feed and pet the hairy coos!) In the end, our tour with David turned out to be a little pricier than the traditional group tours, but if we had to do it all over again we wouldn’t have done it any other way – and if we could have cloned him, we would have taken a tour with him in every port of call! A combination of back roads highlights and breathtaking vistas that only a local can provide in a personalized, luxurious and stress free setting! Could go on and on about the details of the day, but the bottom line is: we would highly recommend spending your time in the Scottish Highlands with David – seriously well done!!!

Thank you very much for your kind words I am so pleased you enjoyed your day out with me.
You made my job so much easier that day by being so relaxed and just enjoying what the Highlands has to offer. It was a huge relief in the end for me when you got to feed the 'hairy coos'!

Best wishes
David.

Last week we were docked in Invergordon with our cruise ship Aida Stella. We had contacted David from Scenic tours through his contact form on his site. Within a few hours he responded and we made an arrangement about the suggestions for that day. When we arrived in Invergorden port David was there with his Mercedes with comfortable leather chairs. Also enough water and shortbread where provided. We spoke a little of what to be expected that day and than we did the tour. We been on a tour to the West from Invergordon through the highlands, carrons, glenns, lochs, viewing points like mum Rattagan, Rogie falls, Elian Donan castle and more. We stayed and had stops as long as we liked on several places and have seen much of the landscape which is dramatically changing fast when you drive to the west. David is flexible and things may change during the day so lots of possibilities. He provides information about culture, history, places and more and knows places to stop on the road for coffee or lunch. Despite the weather that was not very stable that day we had a great day. When we are able we will visit Scotland again. The tour with David was worth while and when you are for a short time in Scotland you get a nice impression of what the land has to offer.

Thanks for that lovely review Andre. It was a real pleasure showing yourself and Gerrie the Highlands. Pity about the weather but that's Scotland for you! I'm sure it will shine next time you're here.
Best wishes
David.

Dave, along with Mike Duncan, arranged a great day for us. We were a bachelor party, and required two vans to tote us around Scotland.

Dave and Mike picked us up in Aberdeen, ferried us to 3 distilleries during the day, and even arranged lunch on the spot at a quaint hotel near the Aberlour distillery when one of our tours ran extremely long and we had to improvise our lunch plans. Along the way Dave gave us some great insight to the region when we asked for it, as well as letting us just chat and talk on our own for stretches around the countryside. When it was all done, he dropped us back off at Aberdeen in front of our hotel.

Together with Mike Duncan arranged a great tour of Speyside distilleries. Really enjoyable day. Short bread supplied in the car was excellent also!
