My sister and myself had a lovely lunch in the White Cottage Tea Rooms. Both of us where on holiday in the area and it was nice to look out onto the River Beauly and over to Inverness.

The food and service was excellent. Good value for money.

This tea room was recommended to us for its warm welcome and as an excellent viewing point for dolphins. Welcome? No. We were made to feel more like intruders. Dolphins? No, but maybe it was the wrong tide. We had tea and cakes, which were excellent, and the view went a long way towards making up for the frosty welcome. Would I ever go back? No.

I asked Tripadvisor to list this place as it's a little gem and I was surprised that it hadn't been reviewed before. We were on our way from Dunfermline to John o'Groats and needed lunch and a break. This place is on the banks of the estuary - turn left through a small housing estate just after the bridge and follow the road to its end. It's an "old fashioned" tea shop - teapots and cakes but also simple lunches. It's not cheap but it's good quality at a fair price. I suggest that it suits the older generation more than the younger. We also stopped on the way back for afternoon tea a couple of days later.

Stopped here for lunch one afternoon and was warmly welcomed into a cosy, quiet tearoom.

Had a toastie with some soup, both were great, just what I was after. Couldn't resist the banoffee pie for dessert either, which was, again, great.

The tearoom is in a great spot, if you get a window seat you can look out over the water, could have sat there for hours!

Only criticism would be the price, almost £13 for what I ordered but I suspect that's slightly inflated for tourists, I'm just used to Fife prices!
