This house really is a lovely home.

I had high expectations at the time of booking but I was quite simply blown away when I arrived. All rooms are very spacious & tastefully decorated but the 'master' bedroom really is something special - featuring a bath and log burner yet still offering ample space to walk around.

However, there is more to a short break than a lovely house though and this is where Anne and Debra excelled. The 'little things' (and there were a lot) they did to ensure that we could only have ever had an enjoyable stay have to be mentioned, from:

- immediate responses to questions pre-arrival;
- a welcome pack with plenty of information sent beforehand;
- a telephone call on day of arrival to make sure everything is okay;
- enough essentials (tea/coffee/milk) etc. in place for your arrival;
- a complimentary hamper with some fine Scottish fare;
- nice range of DVDs and board games that we watched and played respectively; - loads and I mean loads of information about the surrounding area;
- an 'honesty bar' with a nice selection of malts, spirits, etc.

These 'little things' go some way in ensuring that your stay could only ever be relaxing/comfortable. Additionally, with all the local info provided it means that you can maximise your time spent there without having to search for, say, where I could hire a bike from.

Despite it being a mild winter I opted not to take full advantage of the (big and private) garden or the BBQ on the large area of decking but favoured taking in the, at times, breathtaking scenery from the many walking routes that surround the house. The walks themselves are suitable for all abilities - some really flat routes on tarmac and equally some more challenging walks on the trails. Either way, you don't have to go off deep into the hills/trails to catch sight of the stags, deer and other wildlife either. I just happened to be walking up to the nearby farm to buy some freshly laid eggs and there was a stag standing on the river bed. Proper picture postcard stuff.

This place really is quite special and I have no hesitation in recommending it. I will definitely return.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Coach house. It was very comfortable and all our needs were catered for, the Scottish hamper was amazing! The garden furniture was excellent for us to sit outside and enjoy the lovely weather. The House is surrounded by lovely scenic walks, making it a great place to stay with younger children. We managed to see deer, buzzards, kites and dolphins all in their natural habitiat which was truly magnificent! We had an amazing time here and we will definitely come back in the future!

This was our 2nd visit to the coach house and we enjoyed it even more than our 1st visit. Everything is thought of by the owners to make your stay luxurious, the surrounding area and wildlife on the estate is wonderful. Our welcome hamper that was kindly left for us is once again the best we've ever received at a holiday letting. I would highly recommend this cottage. Thanks so much Anne and Archie.

Very comfortable and homey especially after a long hike. Highly recommend staying here for visitors - the town centre/pub are just a short stones throw away.

“Perfect Birthday Stay!”

Stayed at this beautifull cottage for my husbands 60th birthday. What a lovely well equipped and cozy cottage. Everything you would need is there including a lovely hamper on arrival and plenty of logs for the three fires. The house was very clean and well looked after. It is in a perfect setting on The Scatwell Estate with lovely walks by the river nearby. Even spotted 3 stags on our first early morning walk with the dogs.

Within driving distance to lovely sandy beaches, beautiful Scenic glens and castles. Well worth the drive over for lunch to The Seafood Shack over at Kisshorn and then round to Applecross Bay, absolutely stunning. Crofters Bistro over at Rosemarkie lovely to eat as well.

Would definitely recommend a stay at this cottage and would love to return!

“You won't want to leave this gorgeous retreat!”

The Highland Coach House was the perfect place for us to enjoy a peacefully quiet (but luxuriously comfortable) country retreat at Christmas – we had an absolutely wonderful week! The hamper full of delicious Scottish goodies and the beautiful Christmas decorations (including a tree with sparkling lights) made us feel so warmly welcomed we instantly felt at home. All the furnishings are lovely (especially the master bedroom) and if the weather hadn’t been so kind to us we could have spent all week in front of one of the 3(!!) fireplaces, snuggled up with books or listening to music. With crisp dry days, we explored every nook of the superbly gorgeous glen – up hills and down long country tracks – and loved returning as it was getting dark to light a fire. We like to cook, and yes, the kitchen is as well equipped as other reviews say. We bought beautiful local produce at the butcher in Beauly – supplemented by visits to the deli and fruit & veg shops also there (and the huge Tesco in Dingwall). On the one wet day we had we drove to Ullapool – stunning scenery even in the rain! We are more than happy to recommend the coach house to others – it is a truly lovely location. It feels remote without being too far to main roads and towns; you’ll see the wildlife and stunning scenery that the Highlands promises outside your door – and you won’t want to leave!

“Probably the best self catering cottage in Scotland!”

We absolutely loved our week in the Highland Coach House. Its location is unbelievably idyllic and peaceful. It is surrounded by mature and very majestic trees of many species and so attracts a wide variety of birds. The garden is a perfect suntrap and is very private and peaceful, apart from the singing of song thrushes, meow of a buzzard or distant call of a cuckoo.
The kitchen is a cooks dream with absolutely every kitchen gadget you could want; sharp knives, electric whisk, pastry brush, graters of all sizes....the list is endless...and best of all.. everything was so clean.
The master bedroom is gorgeous; the owners have furnished it to an exceptionally high standard and it is definitely a cottage we will return to.
