Very atmospheric, thousands of used books to choose from in many different genres and a great place to take a picture! Would highly recommend the cafe, food was delicious.

“Simply the best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

Probably my favourite bookshop in the world. Its just a great place to spend an hour in a classic bookshop. Historic building, amazing stock of books, great people, super old prints, and a great cafe to boot. Beat that!

Quite often eat here for snack lunch as love the restaurant and bookshop especially its open, wood burning fire. Soup always beautiful and sandwiches etc very tasty with large, varied helpings. Service always very good and prompt and also brilliant selection of homebaking. For bookie foodies, it is bliss!

“Love this little place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2014

This is such a lovely place to come for a bite to eat and look around and maybe purchase a book or two.

The lunch menu is simple but soup and a roll, a toastie with salad or a cake and tea is all you really want anyway.

This was our second visit and I'm sure it wont be our last.

“A superb bonanza of books, and a nice bowl of soup!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2014

If you like books, old, new and in between, you will love this place. Go late morning, have a browse then have a bowl of soup and another browse in the afternoon. Every subject is covered (I am pretty sure!), and there are plenty of other connected items as well - maps and pictures / prints etc. Definitely one of my favourite time killers
