“A Poor Example of A Normally Great Chain”
Reviewed 21 January 2014

We expected the new Dobbies cafe in Inverness to be the same standard as those we've used elsewhere in Scotland. How wrong we were........

We got there at just after 11am hoping for a cooked breakfast or brunch. Not a hope ... Just a big sign saying breakfast items only available till 11am. When we checked what hot food actually was available we were offered a choice of a roll with sausage or a plate of soup. Not exactly spoilt for choice, we opted for the roll with sausage with a couple of scones to follow.

The scones were the normal good standard offered by Dobbies but we found the sausages to be unappetising and rather anaemic.

Service was really poor with staff seeming a bit vacant and disinterested. No one was rude but nor were they welcoming either. They seemed to be barely going through the motions. There was just no atmosphere in the place either.

I had thought that Dobbies opening up might take a lot of trade away from the cafe/restaurant in a Garden Centre nearby but, I doubt if they'll notice any drop in trade if this is the best that Dobbies can offer the good folk of Inverness and surrounding areas.

Don't think we'll be rushing back any time soon.

Was at dobbies today 29th dec and the food was disgusting me my husband and niece left what they call food we could not eat it. It was just warm. What a waste of nearly £26 never 2 be repeated. The only good thing was the diet coke.

“Great Value For Money”
Reviewed 27 November 2013 via mobile

My wife and I have now visited Dobbies Inverness twice in the past couple of weeks and have found the service to be excellent, the quality of the food very good and great value for money. The cafe was clean and staff very polite. Free WiFi, excellent place to stop for a coffee and a snack and if you time it correctly you can get 2 for 1, Breakfast in the morning or Tea/Coffee and Cream Scone in the afternoon. Recommended.

“Poor service and no high chairs”
Reviewed 12 November 2013

Visited with my partner and son at the weekend - before 12, very slow service, ignored by staff when waiting for hot drinks as serving girls chatted. Asked for a high chair 3 times to different members of staff, all wandered off and never came back - could only see 2 high chairs in the whole restaurant. (prob over 200 seats) eventually my son managed to throw my food on the floor where several staff members walked by (hard to miss a crashing plate and food everywhere) yet I had to clean it up before someone slipped.

Food was ok, when I managed to eat it balancing a wriggling child. Contacted the manager via email - still waiting on a response. Aimed as a family destination, but not family friendly at all, unfortunately wont be going back. Simpsons or Cobbs at HIS all the way.

“Better near by.”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

Visited twice already - disappointed both times. Not so much over priced as under value. Prices similar to what you would pay in most GOOD Garden Centre's these days for beautifully presented and deliciously tasting food. Problem is - Dobbies are neither. Coffee was cold, soup was sludgy, egg rolls £4.95 and strawberry tarts - just sad for nearly £3.

Dobbies has shown no interest in customer complaint or feedback. In fact, completely ignored it.

Simpsons Garden Centre is only about 1 mile away and never fails to impress on quality, friendliness and feedback forms on all the tables, which they respond to and act upon.
