a very clean and friendly space. We came late to Inverness (July 16th) on our tour through Scotland and were offered that B&B by Ian (very kind and helpful!) from the Tourist Information. The Tallisker is close to the city but also very quite. It was a warm welcome by the couple that evening. We asked them for a vegetarian restaurant nearby and while we were just arranging our stuff in that beautiful room he figured out four alternative restaurants for us on the internet. It was a brilliant example of Scottish hospitality and we would stay there again.

Room Tip: we had the lovely room with a view under the roof

Stayed 1 night on business. First impressions count and you may well be overwhelmed by your host's friendliness!
My room (no. 5) was very clean, very comfortable, a nice view over the river.and I slept VERY well. Talisker is less than 5 mins walk to the centre (actually, it's just about in the centre!) but in a quiet location and well placed for river walks as well. So leave the car and sample the whiskies!
Breakfast was plentiful and well up to B&B standards but I was surprised that a full cooked breakfast wasn't the "norm": (It was explained that, as most guests are European, the continental breakfast is preferred). However, I'm sure that, had I asked in advance, it would have been catered for. Certainly my "early" breakfast time of 7.30 was accommodated and, in addition the offer of a packed lunch was made! Over and above the usual B&B service!
The free, secure Wifi was an essential for me.
So, not quite 5 stars but only because of the breakfast option and some may find the hostess' strong accent a little difficult, but, otherwise, impossible to fault. I've booked in for my next trip to Inverness already but I don't know what I'll do when it's closed from October....

We stayed at Talisker for two nights in late July. The room (on the first floor) had large windows on two sides and a beautiful view of the Ness River. The room was nicely decorated and the entire facility was spotlessly clean! There is also a nice sitting area in the front where you can enjoy a drink and watch the river. The location is very convenient to town and local restaurants. We felt the room was a very good value considering the quality, service and location.

Unfortunately, we had a family emergency while staying at Talisker. The owners, Phuong & Moray, jumped in to provide assistance. Moray brought out his laptop and helped me make air reservations. Phuong provided her landline and a special code so that I could call the US cheaply. It was getting late and we were exhausted from our ordeal, and likely would not have gone out for dinner. However, Phuong & Moray graciously offered to share Phuong’s homemade Vietnamese noodle soup with us. It was delicious!! We had a very early flight requiring that we get up at 4:00 AM. Phuong provided a personal knock on the door to be sure we were up.

We like to stay at B&B’s because we enjoy the personal touch. Phuong and Moray took “personal touch” to a new level! We are very grateful and can definitely recommend you stay with them while visiting Inverness.

Room Tip: Ask for the room on the 1st floor with the view of the river. I believe it is #4.

The room was spotless with a beautiful view over the river. The owners were very flexible in managing my last-minute earlier arrival than I had first arranged with them. They were lovely people and made a good breakfast. The guest house is very convenient for a stroll round Inverness, adjacent large hotels if one is attending a function there, which I was, or the Eden Court Theatre. The price was reasonable.

Talisker is a well run guest house where you are greeted with a lovely smile and a warm welcome. I had the smallest bedroom but for one person it had everything I needed and was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent, served in a bright friendly room. The house is positioned right on the river, where you can walk into the centre of town in 5 minutes, or wander in the other direction along the river to the islands, little bridges, weirs, or even continue along to the canal. Would definitely stay here again.

When I called ahead to confirm our arrival time, I was confused at first because the phone was answered by a very nice woman who had an Asian accent. She is the charming wife of the owner and assured us that we had the right place. Once we saw our lovely room overlooking the Ness River we even cancelled a trip further on to stay at Talisker another night. The hosts were so helpful and warm. Our breakfast was filling and delicious, but Phong outdid herself by making a special request Vietnamese soup for another guest who had been in the service in Vietnam during the war. You should have seen the bliss on his face! Hubby and I were totally charmed by her sweet and funny personality.
The hosts had a lot of literature to help us plan our stay, and gave us great advice on touring the Glenmorangie distillery up the coast a bit. We had some of our best memories at Inverness, heading out to a nice club, the local Chinese food restaurant up the path by the river, a lovely pub at the gore of the nearby hilly streets, and long walks along the river in the extended light of summer. Best of all was watching the river glinting in the sunset from our cozy nest of a room at Talisker. We made cream tea from the tray provided, snuggled in the comfy bed and dreamed of the sea and the sky.

Room Tip: The corner room facing the river has a gorgeous view.

We recently booked a one night stay at this establishment for ourselves and our 10 year old son. Prior to arriving, we were advised that he would be sleeping on a sofa bed in our room which was absolutely fine. I appreciated being warned about this in advance. Upon arrival, the welcome was very warm and friendly and the room spotlessly clean as was the en-suite. All fine so far. However, the room was far too small for us because by setting up the sofa bed, we could not walk around our own bed. This made the use of the wardrobe redundant as it was on the other side of the room and also meant that we had to climb over the bed either to get in or out of bed or worse, climb over one another to get to the bathroom during the night. Neither of which we found acceptable. Also, we were only given one pillow each when we believed there should have been two or at least, there should have been additional pillows available in the room if we needed them. The room was located on the second (attic) floor and as such, you had to bend over to reach the tea/coffee and more than once, we banged our heads. At breakfast, the hostess was very friendly and again, everything was spotlessly clean but the breakfast was less than filling. As I don't eat beans, my cooked breakfast consisted of only one sausage, one piece of bacon, one egg and a triangle of tattie scone. Nothing more. In fairness, there was fresh yoghurt to eat as well as bananas and apples on offer plus cereal AND we were offered more coffee or toast. However, with neither tomatoes, mushrooms or black pudding on the plate, I believe the breakfast should have been much more substantial with at least two sausages and two rashers of bacon plus the egg and beans or tattie scone we were given. It was by far, the smallest cooked breakfast we have ever had and as such, will not be returning unless they reconsider the portions and the size of the 'family' room. The room cost £105 for one night which on reflection, was far too much for the squashed surroundings and disappointment we experienced at breakfast time. We cannot however, fault the quality of cleanlieness or the hostess's warm welcome.
