“Great location for little money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2012

We booked two rooms as two couples in the beginning of January. The first thing that we noticed was location. It is right opposite the castle, on the river bank, very beautiful. The rooms were small but good for the money, breakfast consisted of cereal and a choice of fried egg scrambled egg or poached eggs. Very satisfied, if you are in Inverness for a day, do stay there

I stayed here one night in november and so glad it was only one. When I arrived and rang the bell a man opened the door. I introduced myself and have yet to get a reply. He gave me two keys "thats your room key and thats the front door key then pointed down the hall "breakfast is down there between 7.30 and 9.00. The room was okay and had a big built in wardrope and the bathroom was small but clean. Tea and coffee facilities are also in your room. My bed felt comfortable but for some reason I saw every hour on the clock whether it was the bed or I just felt uncomfortable with the man who let me in I dont know.I went downstairs to go for a walk at 7.00 before breakfast and an alarm went off, the same man was in the hall and never even said if it was a fire alarm or morning or even looked at me. How rude!! Breakfast was quite good, a choice of 5 cereals, fruit, choice of fry up, toast, tea or coffee. At least one of the females spoke to me, well she did have to ask what I wanted to order and it was her I paid my bill to.The location is very good only 5 minutes from the and the shops and 10 to the train station.

The room was fine, although the bathroom was tiny. 9am is far too early to stop serving breakfast though, especially on a Sunday, which was the day we stayed on. People go on holiday to relax and they should be able to have a bit of a lie in if they want. Also, having got up for the breakfast, I wish I hadn't bothered. The cooked breakfast portions were tiny, the sausages were really cheap and nasty, and the microwaved scrambled eggs were like rubber. Not what you expect for the price they're charging.

We had a great experience here, we were running in the Loch Ness marathon. The staff were very pleasant and because the race started so early they laid on breakfast from 6 instead of the usual 7.30am.

Its ideally situated on the banks of the river Ness and only a 10/15 min walk from the station. Also not bang in the centre of town so it was very quiet at night.

Only slight downside was at £85 perhaps a little more pricier than I'm used to for this sort of accomodation, not sure what the average for Inverness is though (when there arent major events on)

Room Tip: ask for a river view, top floor rooms only have sky lights.

Booked through VisitScotland as having trouble finding accommodation in Inverness at short notice.
Really warm welcome. Room was at back of building, slightly small but had everything required and room and bathroom were both spotlessly clean. Toiletries provided were a nice touch.
Breakfast was really good - although various combinations listed on menu just have to ask to get any combination and coffee much better quality than most hotels/guest houses. Service efficient and friendly.
Owner/manageress(?) very helpful and gave excellent suggestions for restaurants
Would certainly go back.
