I will start by saying how cold it was in spring!! -0.5, it was snowing and i have never eperienced wind rattling my bones before. There is only 2 words for it. STUPIDLY COLD.
I picked this place to stay as it wasnt very far from Loch ness, which is the only thing in Scotland that we wanted to see. We had 2 nights there thinking we still wont have time to see it all. How wrong i was! Our first night was ok, we were tired from driving from Carlisle that morning so we had dinner and a pint then went to bed. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom was a good size and i am ever thankfull for the heaters in both rooms, we had them cranked up to 7. I dont even know if they are meant to go that high.
We thought we were in for a big day so next morning we were up early, had a fantastic breakfast ( minus the black pudding, YUK) and set off for loch ness. I would like to say we had a great day but by 11am i couldnt wait to get back into England. I hated the area that much that we sat outside the pub in the little smoking shelter and drank the rest of the day away, got up early the next day and left without breakfast.
The old north inn is a really good place to stay (even when its freezing outside). The people are friendly, the food is good and the bed was comfortable. What a shame its in scotland as i will never go back.

Stayed here for one night as we were going to a wedding nearby. Location was perfect - there is a little noise from the road, but it's a very quiet "main" road and didn't bother us at all. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and more welcoming - the real highlight of this hotel. The room was a little dated, but big and comfortable, as well as spotlessly clean - with tea/biscuits, TV, bath and lots of hanging space in wardrobe. Cooked breakfast was delicious. Overall, a perfectly pleasant stay (for what we wanted) with fantastic staff.

The Restaurant and meal is great. The rooms need a little work. The rooms are neat and tidy ..... but they do need updating. The restaurant has been updated... but now the rooms need to be updated as well. A little bit like going back to the 70's. However, a nice place to stay and the meals are great.

We stayed at the Old North Inn for one night in July.
First the good - the staff were nice. Now for the bad.
The website is VERY misleading as our bedroom looked nothing like the one
in the pictures. The woodchip was falling of the wall, the bathroom sink cracked, the
ceiling hanging off in the bathroom, exposed tv arial splitter box, you get the
idea. To say it hadn't been decorated or repaired since the 70s would be a very
accurate description. The cooked breakfast was okay. We had room 5 which overlooked the rear smoking shelter which was full of loud guests / staff (?) until around 1am.
To charge £65/night for this room is quite frankly a total cheek.

This place has a really good location en-route to Beauly and so we were intrigued enough to go in for lunch with our two young children. The menu boasted use of "fresh local produce" and so we were pretty disappointed when our meals came which were Gammon & salad (said to be from a local farm).. and Prawn Cocktail Salad (local prawns). Both were quite highly priced and i was completely perplexed when cold sliced ham salad arrived. I guess they forgot to mention it was cold sliced gammon and not the gammon we would come to expect of a bar lunch! My partner had a small pot of prawn mayo and the prawns were tiny and tasteless, hard to believe they were local at all. The salad was obviously pre-prepared as the cucumber slices werent wet but dried out as were the sliced tomatoes and the lettuce was limp and warm. I dont put a price on good food but it really vexed me to pay for this meal as it seemed the only thing local about the produce was it was possibly bought from the local Tesco. Such a missed opportunity, they could be serving plentiful portions at decent prices and become renowned for utilising nearby farms that are plentiful for excellent dishes. Wouldn't go back and have advised friends to avoid! On the plus side it was completely dead when we went in so if you're after somewhere quiet then this is the place to go.

spent one night here while touring the highlands,i will start with the positives, the staff are very helpful, the food and service in the resturaunt excellent.and loads of parking on sight. now the not so good bits, the room was amazing we couldnt quite work out what decade the furniture came from but it was definatel pre 80's the bed was rock hard and you could feel every spring in the matteress. the room was clean but smelt very musty i think this may have been the old carpet and we were right at the front facing the a busy main road and as it wasnt double glazed it was very noisy. i would definately go there to eat agin but unless the rooms were updated i would not stop

We stayed three day's in this hotel. First we were given a room which was near the ventilationsystem from the kitchen. The noise was terrible !! We asked for another room, what was no problem at all. We stayed in room number 7, nice in size, lovely beds. The bathroom had a good size, everything in working order, but everything on the whole could do with a refurbishment. The manager and staff were very helpfull and friendly and the food was perfect ! As beeing a diabetec they helped me with all my wishes and I could order anything I wanted. My compliments !!
