“basic (it is a hostel)..but CLEAN”
Reviewed 25 August 2012

i stayed here for monster swim last weekend. from what youexpect from a hostel facilities were basic, hence cheap price, but more importantly i found it to be very clean. bed linen clean, toilets clean and kitchen facilities very clean. it was noisy with doors banging but did quieten down towards midnight and i had a good nights sleep. beds were basic but to be honest for the price i found it better than the b and b i stayed in the next night which was nearly triple the price !!! you get what you pay for with hostels but if clenliness isnt an issue then i think they are good value, and this certainly is. I shallbe staying for nest years monster swim, would recommend if you are considering budget

We stayed there for 4 nights with our two girls aged 9 and 13. We had a room that had 2 bunk beds. The room had a basin in it which is handy and 4 lockers. The room was large but you could only open the window about 3-4 cm which I could understand as they obviously don't want people or kids falling out of them. The pillows were flat lucky we bought our girls pillows and we were able to have an extra a pillow each for my husband and I. The bathrooms were great, showers worked really well and the stalls were large. Kitchen was a really big and lots of kitchenware and clean. Only 2 refrigerators which must get full if they have a lot of people but we had no problems. Overall it was fine. We have only stayed at 2 Youth Hostels this being the second one. The only issue we had was noisy neighbours for all 4 nights, you could hear people above and beside you. Staff were really helpful with tourist attractions and looking up things on the internet for us. There is a shop about 10 min walk away which is handy.

the expensive price is in no way indicative of quality of what you will receive for you hard earned money. the rooms; the bunk beds were cheap and noisy. whilst friends were making their own beds the slats on the top bunk broke with a friend underneath!! the only sink in the room did not drain. their were two showers for 24 beds on the floor to share and these did not have locking doors or anywhere to put your clothes and towels. internet, which includes wifi was one pound for 15 minutes. they had inconsistent rules, whilst mixed gender rooms were allowed on our first night on our return night it was not. upon check in we were not informed of their 2am lockout policy. disappointed and feeling ripped off. save your self the drama.

Room Tip: pick a different hostel.

Only had 1 night here so we could do a tour of Loch Ness. The staff were kind and the kitchen was well equipped, really clean and had lots of space.

Room Tip: There is no lift so if you have a BIG bag, repack or ask for groud floor room. We were on 2nd floor...

It was a great hostel to stay at. The service was good and the rooms were quite clean and airy. It was actually big or I was just lucky enough to be upgraded as the place was empty. Location is quite far, as it is set in the suburbs outside the main city center. It is fine if you are with friends as it just a few minutes walk but if you are alone, it can be quite a drag.

Enjoyed another great hostel stay. Kitchen is 1st class, rooms are nice and clean, beds are pretty good for a hostel but pillows are typical hostel pancakes. Toilet and shower facilities roomy and clean. Staff is wonderful.

The downsides - it seems like there is no sound proofing anywhere and while there are hooks in the shower areas there is not a single one in the rooms, maybe because there is lockers but nowhere to hang your jacket or wet towel.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the self catering kitchen are probably quiter.

We stayed in this hostel for 1 night and booked a double room in advance, paying a little extra for this. The staff in the hostel were friendly and helpful. I felt it was rather over-priced for what you receive but otherwise no other complaints,
