“Outstanding B&B and wonderful hosts!”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Torlinnhe Guest House in June. Our hosts could not be more welcoming and helpful with their suggestions and guidance re: the surrounding area. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with lovely afternoon tea, to settling into our rooms, the stay was perfect. Our rooms were beyond comfortable, our large bed was heaven after many small beds and the bathroom was far superior to others we encountered. As the owner Sue explained, the rooms were well appointed to accommodate travelers such as ourselves with too much luggage! I wish we had more time at Torlinnhe as I would have enjoyed just sitting in the very comfortable lounge area, which has a beautiful views of the loch. As Andy explained, they have seen much wild life in the loch, and it would be a pleasure to just relax and look out the picture window with the binoculars. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend Torlinnhe Guest House. The only thing is don’t make the mistake that we did only staying two nights, spend more time there! Thank you again Sue and Andy.

The pleasure was all ours Ariana R. We love to meet new people and to help them get the most from the fantastic area we live in. There is a huge amount to see and do and Fort William provides a brilliant base for not only local walking, climbing, sightseeing etc but also for touring around the highlands generally. We are pleased you were all comfortable and enjoyed our breakfasts - a good nights sleep and a decent breakfast are major components of any holiday!

During our 2 week holiday in NW Scotland we stayed in 5 B&Bs all of excellent standards. It was difficult to choose an overall winner but we feel the Torlinne comes top.
Lovely hosts - nothing was too much trouble - super room and view, delicious breakfast with wide choice and convenient for Fort William/Nevis range etc.
Well worth a revisit.

My family would agree completely with the praise of previous posts. After we moved on to a different B&B in Edinburgh, my kids said we should have stayed at Torlinnhe because it was the best. We were lucky to have sunny perfect weather our first day in the Highlands, and Sue pointed us to a short walk to a waterfall that we would encounter early in our driving loop. It was a perfect stop on a beautiful day of sightseeing which began with the view from the guesthouse. Thank you for your advice!
The cooked breakfasts and buffet items Andy and Sue provided were delicious. We'd been struggling to eat healthy in restaurants so were especially appreciative of the large fresh fruit bowl. The rooms were well-appointed, very clean, and comfortable, with nice modern baths. The kids were impressed with some high tech things like a remote control shade on their window and automatic closing of the window in the event of rain. We all slept well as all was quiet and dark at night.
Thank you for a lovely stay, Andy and Sue!

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay tlrf9597 and thank you for taking the time to post your review. It is good to hear that you enjoyed the walk to Steall falls - it is reputedly one of the best short walks in Scotland. Hopefully we provide a comfortable base from which to explore the amazing west coast of Scotland and particularly the Lochaber area which is justifiably known as the "Outdoor Capital of the UK".

The couple running this guesthouse are very helpful in suggesting where to go and what to see in the Glen Nevis, Glencoe area. The view of Loch Linnhe from the room, the guests' sitting area and the dining room are beautiful. We watched dolphins pass by at breakfast. The breakfast itself with respect both to variety (there must have been a dozen types of cheese offered) and quality was perhaps the best we experienced among the half-dozen excellent B&Bs we stayed at while in Scotland. The building was built to be a guesthouse and the attention to detail (sound proofing, for example) was evident.

Thank you RMP_11 for your kind review. We are glad you found our suggestions for activities and places to visit helpful. There is so much to do in the area it is impossible to see everything in a few days but hopefully at least you managed some of the highlights! It great to hear that all the B&Bs you stayed at while in Scotland were of an excellent standard. B&B is a traditional form of accommodation in this country and should offer visitors a great balance between quality accommodation and the intimacy of staying "with the locals". Hopefully that way you get the best of both worlds at a good price - and we get the pleasure of meeting guests from all over the world. Hope to see you back again one day.

Torlinnhe is a great place for exploring Lochaber. We stayed five nights in a clean, comfortable and well appointed room. Andy and Sue are friendly and informative and do great breakfasts. We had some very good tips from them on places to visit and to eat. The visitor lounge area in the breakfast room, with its stunning view over Loch Linnhe, was a bonus - it was hard to tear ourselves away!

I stoped over at Fort William and stayed here for two nights. The rooms were clean, and cozy. We had a fantastic view of Loch Linnhe and the sky line at sunset was simply breathtaking. Sue and Andy were very hospitable. They gave us great tips (Steal Gorge and Falls), and the breakfast was fantastic. Andy makes great coffee and we throughly enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Ask for room number 1.

Great photo's yunnhann! Any chance I could use one or two for our website? So glad you enjoyed our local scenery. The Steall Falls walk is reputed to be one of the best short walks in Scotland. There are lots more lovely walks in and around Fort William for you to try between pots of tea and coffee - or you could just relax a while and watch the ever changing view of the loch from our lounge window. Hope to see you again next time you are in Fort William.
