“Ben Nevis Base Camp”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

Torlinnhe Guest House proved to be the perfect location for our weekend assault on Ben Nevis. Sue and Andy were the perfect hosts and the the guest house itself is situated with a beautiful view of Loch Linnhe and the surrounding countryside. The accommodation was first class as was the breakfast and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone contemplating a visit to Fort William. Andy was kind enough to dry out all of our wet hiking gear and his recommendation for a suitable post-climb beer at the Grog & Gruel was spot on. Can't wait to find an excuse to come back.

Thank you Mark B for your generous review and recommendation. It is great to hear that our "base camp" services were up to scratch. There is little worse than setting out on a long walk in clothes that are still wet from the day before! As for excuses to come back - there are dozens of them with just a few miles radius! Some Munros, some Corbets, some Grahams and some just a jolly good days walk at low level. Plenty of choice whatever the weather. Oh, and don't forget the indoor ice wall at Kinlochleven for when the weather is really grim. See you soon?

We stayed here last week and just so clean, comfortable and food so good. They were so helpful and picked us up from station and offered to take us in town for evening meal. So much information available on the local area, which we could take with us. View from the lounge just beautiful, with afternoon tea always offered to us. Will recommend and stay again.

The station pick up was no trouble JeanBubble, it is only 5 mins in the car. A couple of miles can be a long walk with lots of luggage so it is good to be able to save you the effort where we can. As you say we are also always happy to drop our guests in town before dinner in the evening. On a nice evening it can be a great 20minute walk along the lochside (even along the beach) but not so much fun in the rain or after a long day out enjoying yourselves! What is it they say on the TV ads? "Every Little Helps!".

Thanks so much for the positive review. We really do appreciate it. We look forward to your next stay- whenever you are able to get back up to Scotland for a few days of R&R in amongst the lochs, glens and mountains of the "Outdoor Capital of the UK".

If you're planning a trip to Fort William then look no further than this little gem. Contemporary decoration to a very high and clean standard in a stunning location. Comfortable lounge where on a rainy afternoon we sat & drank tea which was offered to us by Sue. Truly 5* accommodation at a good price.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2 (see pics) which had a super king size bed

Thank you for your kind recommendation Shaz1914. Apologies for the rainy afternoon, we haven't quite managed to control the weather yet - but we are trying! Tea and Tunnocks (a national institution) hopefully made up for it, at least in part :-). Hope to see you again soon.

My wife and I stayed here for one night only on our way up to Skye, but couldn't have been happier with the accommodation, welcome and breakfast. Everything was spotless and our spacious en suite room excellent. We were even offered a run into Fort William when we were going our for dinner. The breakfast was among the best we've seen, with a choice of just about everything you could think of. All in all a first class place to stay and I know that we'd go back again the next time we're up in that area.

Pity it had to be such a short visit Barrie96, hopefully next time you will manage a little longer in Fort William, "The Outdoor Capital of the UK". There is so much to see and do in the area. Thank you so much for your very generous review, it is much appreciated. It is good to hear you were comfortable and that you enjoyed your stay. Our 3 generation family of 7 recently spent 3 busy, wonderful days at Torlinnhe. What a fine choice this was! The location and views of Loch Linnhe are spectacular, and Sue and Andy were such helpful hosts, with Sue booking restaurants for us and making phone calls to inquire about activities like mountain biking. The breakfasts were delicious with interesting options like breakfast parfaits, fresh fruit, croissants and pastries, as well as the traditional Scottish fry-up. Our stay here went by entirely too fast, and we all hope for a return visit to this lovely guest house in the future!

We remember you well Carol B! It is a pity you only had three days but as you say there is hopefully always the possibility of a return visit in the future. It was a pleasure to do what we could to assist in making your stay in Fort William as enjoyable as possible. With all the touring you are doing you will all be glad to get home for a rest! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to post such a generous review of Torlinnhe so quickly. We really do appreciate the feedback we get from all of our lovely guests. Hope to see you all again in a year or two (if not before!).

Andy and sue really bent over backwards to ensure our weary tired motorbiking souls could really relax. From tea when we arrived, DVDs to watch and the excellent breakfast spread, were so glad we stayed and would recommend this B&B to anyone coming from a day to a week. The local scenary is fabulous and there is lots to do nearby too.

Thank you NicoleSham for your kind comments. It is great to hear you enjoyed yourselves and were able to relax during your stay. Hopefully Torlinnhe provided a great base from which to enjoy some of the scenery and activities available in the "Outdoor Capital of the UK". The snow on The Ben is receding a bit now and this weekend is the last of the skiing at Nevis Range. From next week the bikers, hikers and wildlife watchers will be out in force! And of course the Kayakers, Canyoners, Climbers, Car Tourers and just passing thru-ers - to name but a few. We look forward to greeting them all! Hope to see you both again when you next get a chance to travel North.

We recently stayed at the guest house over the Easter Bank holiday and were very impressed. Upon arrival we were welcomed with tea, coffee and biscuits which was just what we needed after a long trip. The view from the lounge where breakfast is served was absolutely stunning. The breakfast offers plenty of selection with an excellent range of food cooked to order. Finally, cleanliness and quality of rooms was also good and we would definitely stay again.

Great to hear you would definitely stay again next time you are in the area twill22, we look forward to seeing you again soon! Thank you so much for taking the time to post your generous review. Hopefully your drive home was uneventful and did not take too long. Sorry we couldn't be at the other end to welcome you with tea and biscuits as we did at Torlinnhe - we must have been busy with our feet up watching the ever changing view from the lounge window :).
