This was a fantastic stay, made by the enthusiastic hospitality of Stephen. The room was lovely, breathtaking views, highly recommended. Literally five minutes walk from town (try cafe mango for your thai/indian tastes!) and makes for a wonderful stop gap on your journey to the north and west coast. Thank you Stephen, kind regards Joanne and Calais.

I stayed here for a night on a walking holiday. Stephen is lovely, so helpful and welcoming. The full Scottish breakfast is gorgeous and set me up properly for a day's walking in Glencoe. The breakfast room is on the first floor with a lovely view over the loch.

The location is a little way out of town (to the south) but so are most of the B&Bs as far as I could tell. They offer free access to spa facilities at a hotel to the north of town which unfortunately I couldn't use as I'd run out of time.

The room was lovely and warm, very comfortable and clean - not large but I was staying on my own so it wasn't a problem. The en-suite was a good size and the shower was lovely and hot. They provide organic toiletries and lovely fluffy towels and of course free wifi.

We booked in at Laurel Bank Lodge for two nights prior to Christmas of December 2013. We were not expecting too much as the pictures on the web were not brilliant.

However, we could not have been more thrilled with Laurel Bank Lodge!

Location
Situated on the main road into Fort William resides this 'upside down' house with beautiful views over Loch Linnhe and is only a short 5-10 minute walk away from Fort William high street.

The reception
We were greeted by Stephen who offered a friendly face and a warm welcome. We were promptly shown to our room.

The room
Exceptionally large considering the price. Well equipped with TV, double bed, single bed, tea/coffee facilities, free Wi-Fi, wardrobe and a generous en suite shower room.

The breakfast
A fantastic scottish breakfast was on offer which was greatly received. Good size portion, freshly cooked which was accompanied by toast, jams, juices, pastries and fresh filter coffee. The first floor breakfast room features a large vaulted ceiling with full height windows overlooking the loch which creates a beautiful backdrop.

This is a must stay venue. Great value, great rooms, great food and great local advice on hand.

Stephen has created the perfect hospitable atmosphere and we will definitely be returning.

Where to start…

We stayed at the Laurel Bank Lodge the night before a lovely wedding at Inverlochy castle just outside Fort William.

Our stay at the Laurel Bank Lodge was excellent on so many levels. Firstly, the room was comfortable, warm and very clean. The facilities were first-rate and the owners were beyond magnificent.

We booked one room for a group of three people. Our party consisted of a couple and a brother to the couple. On realising this, and because they had vacancies, the owners offered us another room at the same cost of the original three-person stay. As previously mentioned the rooms were exquisite. I had an excellent night sleep in a very large bed and the pillows were incredibly comfy. Toiletries were included and the shower was excellent in both rooms.

We went out for a meal in Fort William that evening. A storm had just rolled in and the winds were fierce and the rain was hammering down as it can do during the winter months in Scotland. As the weather was so bad and because every taxi in Fort William was a good 20-30 minutes away our hosts offered to drop us off outside the restaurant. Amazing.

In the morning we went up stairs for breakfast. The breakfast was excellent with a massive variety of pastries, fruits and cereals (etc…) on display. There was also an option of a traditionally cooked breakfast or a cooked vegetarian breakfast. I had the vegetarian breakfast and again it was excellent. The dining/breakfast room was very nice also and the views were magnificent, with a clear view of the snow caped mountains over looking the loch below.

This is the best bit. Finally we checked out and headed up to the castle for the wedding and a nights stay. As I was getting ready for the wedding I suddenly realised I had left my jacket at the lodge. On realising this I rang them to check it was there. It was, and low and behold they offered to bring it up to the castle for me, which they did within 20 minutes of the phone call.

I was astounded at the service this family offered us. Not only did they provide us with a more than excellent stay for the money we paid but also they went that extra mile to ensure our visit to Fort William and the lodge was flawless.

Thank you again guys.

Also, they have a spa that you can use for free when staying at the lodge. Sadly I didn’t have time use it but I will do the next time I’m in Fort William and the next time I stay at the Laurel Bank Lodge.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

We are glad that you still managed to enjoy your stay in Fort William despite the very best efforts of such inhospitable weather!
All year round, we are fortunate to be blessed with guests who, like you, are positive and appreciative of what we offer here at Laurel Bank Lodge Bed & Breakfast. So when you needed a helping hand, we were happy to assist and delighted that we were able to.
You will be pleased to hear that shortly after your visit we were presented with the 'Taste Our Best' award for our breakfast.
We would like to take this opportunity, to wish you and your family and if we may, all of our guests who have stayed with us, a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Cheers!

Stephen & Brenda

We booked two rooms at the last minute, not knowing what to expect after the previous booking in Glasgow had gone a bit wrong. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed a brief but relaxing stay for one night on our way north.

Top marks for the service, room and location. Wonderful host, and the comfort of the bed was the best I have found in a hotel.

If we are staying in the area again, will be staying here and will happily recommend to others.
