Over the Easter holiday we decided to take a road trip staying at Fonab Castle, Inverlochy Castle, Cross Basket Castle – all in Scotland, and the Yorke Arms in North Yorkshire. Our favourite was, without any doubt whatsoever, Inverlochy Castle. This hotel is literally fantastic and has stunning scenery with lots to see and do on the doorstep. The Castle itself is beautiful, well kept and luxurious. The staff couldn’t have done anymore to make our stay anymore comfortable or enjoyable. Their restaurant, and taster menu, was the best we had over the course of our road trip. The whole experience has set a standard in our minds of what constitutes good quality. A serious well done to all the staff, you were all amazing. We cannot wait to return.

Room tip: We had a double room and it was both spacious and luxurious

This isn't a hotel - it's an experience. You're staying in a magnificent castle that they encourage you to treat as your home, all while their warm and wonderful staff attend to your every need. I really can't say enough about the staff. They are all warm and engaging (I probably took up too much of their time wanting to hear all about their lives!) and they were solicitous without hovering. They do a dining room tasting menu which we did both nights we were there and they were some of the most delicious and unique dining experiences we've ever had. This place is not cheap - but worth every penny! We will never forget our stay here.

We stayed here to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was so fantastic! The room was incredible. The service was impeccable! Seriously the best service ever! The grounds were so lovely - we just loved the walled garden. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was five star in our opinion. We definitely hope to go back! (By the way, we went in 2013 but the date wasn't available for this review...)

Room tip: We had the Princes Suite - wow!

We did not stay at the castle but wow! How lovely. We stayed at the factors house (caretakers house) on the property and came up for meals. That was much more affordable, very comfortable, private and more to my taste. Food was delicious! But $$$. But if you want a romantic indulgent stay, the castle is it. Whatever your heart desires, I'm sure you can have it.

Our whole family (including our teenage daughters) absolutely loved every minute of our stay at Inverlochy Castle. Beautifully situated in a stunning location, the hospitable staff made us feel completely at home. The chef was incredible and every meal was exceptional. We found every staff member unusually warm, helpful and friendly; many thanks to Scott, Claire, Kevin, Dianne, Stacy, Johnny, William, Jose and everyone else who made our stay so special.
