“Fantastic B&B in Fort William”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

My wife and I stayed for three nights at this wonderful property. The Turret Room we were allocated was excellently appointed with great views of Loch Linnhe. Joan was very efficient and extremely friendly during our stay, serving up delicious breakfasts every morning. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole Grange experience and would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Fort William.

Stayed at The Grange for two nights this week and there absolutely nothing that could be faulted. The room was perfect, breakfast was delicious and Joan made the overall experience fabulous. I will definitely be staying again so...highly recommended for some luxury.

From the moment owner Joan welcomes you in with tea and shortbread you are in for a 5 star experience. Everything is beautifully done, from the room decor, roll top bath, power shower cubicle, Penhaligon toiletries, deep mattress and matching decor. Nothing has been forgotten. The breakfast is superb, lots of choices and all brought to your table by the lovely Joan, complete with home made bread and marmalade. Cannot recommend too highly.

Room Tip: We stayed in the turret room with double aspect windows overlooking the Loch. There are three rooms...

We spent 2 weeks in Scotland and were very pleased with our accommodations overall, but the two night stay at The Grange in Fort William was definitely the highlight. Joan's twenty some year experience in the B and B business really shows from the beautifully and tastefully decorated rooms to the fresh baked bread and the multi-choice, scrumptious breakfast. She really has focused on those aspects which travelers value when they are far away from home. And, to top everything off, she is such an engaging and warm host. We appreciated the terrific insight for our trip and her enthusiasm for our travel even though she sees many, many travelers every year. Thank you, Joan, for being so welcoming to these Canadian guests.

We stayed at The Grange for 1 night on 08/06/14 (sorry for not leaving this review sooner!). Joan, the owner, is lovely and so welcoming. Even though she was on her way out when we arrived (early) she left a nice pot of tea with shortbread in the lounge for us to enjoy. The Grange is beautifully and tastefully decorated throughout and our room was no different. The Turret Room, the smaller of the two rooms we saw, was lovely with a huge modern bathroom and fantastic views over the garden and to the loch beyond. We slept well in the very comfy bed, although maybe aided by the complimentary sherry.... :)
Breakfast was a treat in itself with a starter and main which you choose from the menu left in you room. Try the banana sundae with yoghurt, honey and granola, you won't be disappointed! We chose the Scottish breakfast for our main which was great. We enjoyed all this while sat by the window enjoying the view and having a wee chat with Joan.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this superb 5 star B&B, if you are looking to stay in Fort William, then look no further.

I spent 2 days in Fort William, and the warm welcome of Joan and the magnificent room I slept in were both amazing ! The room is perfectly decorated, the bed very comfortable, with a large bathroom. The house in itself is stunning, so is the garden. The breakfast is the most delicious I had in my whole tour of Scotland (I will remember that tasty and creamy smocked haddock for long).
I really recommend this B&B !

From the moment we arrived, this was perfection. Joan welcomed us at the door and showed us to our immaculate, large and beautifully decorated room (the Rob Roy room). She then served us a lovely pot of tea in the guests' lounge, accompanied by homemade shortbread. This was all a relaxing start to our 3 day stay and made us feel at ease in the house - truly you feel like a very welcome guest in her home, rather than simply a customer at a B&B.

Our room was as good as it gets, easily the equal of a 5-star hotel - actually better due to the homely, thoughtful and individual finishing touches that abound. The decor is exceptionally tasteful, traditional in keeping with the magnificent building, but with a modern twist - our bedroom was beautifully lit by the light flooding through the windows and the view over the loch was superb. The bathroom was huge, again so light and airy.

Each evening there is the pleasure of selecting the next morning's breakfast from the menu of starters and mains. We stayed for 3 nights, and each of our three breakfasts was very good. As many others have said, the whiskey porridge is a treat and a special mention goes to the delicious banana sundae starter with granola and honey. We sampled three different 'mains' and all were great - haddock in a cream sauce, full scottish breakfast and also the pancakes with maple syrup.

Joan's knowledge of the area is seemingly second-to-none, she gives great ideas on days out - linking together different places and activities in a way that would not be obvious to a tourist. There were so many good recommendations for restaurants that we wished we had more nights to try them, but those we did sample lived up to the billing; Russels in Spean Bridge was particularly good.

All in all, we would love to stay at The Grange again in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality base in the Highlands.
