“Not as bad as other say”
Reviewed 21 August 2012

Arrived after doing The Great Glen Way. Room was clean and comfortable, ensuite was fine. TV reception was a bit sporadic but we didn't really go to Fort William to watch telly. Only negative point was the noise, (not really a complaint hence we didn't raise it with the owner) more just a fact. Road noise was pretty loud. We were on the main road through Fort William but there seemed to be no soundproofing. Noise between rooms was pretty bad as well. When the sound went off on our TV, we could continue to listen to the sound from the room next door. Fortunately, everyone seemed to decide to turn in at about the same time. Again, just a fact, not a complaint as everyone was on holiday and entitled to do their own thing. Smallest breakfast of all our stays but it was fine. Sorry, don't think we'll be back, try somewhere a bit quieter off the main road.

Room Tip: We were in the annex, maybe main house would be quieter.

I have stayed there with a friend in July. It wa terrible. The staff was really unfriendly, breakfast very poor and the place looked very cheap. One morning we have stayed longer in the room and the girl who was cleaning the rooms came and toldus to vacant the room immediately because she does not have time to wait. I was so surprised. Definitely would not recommend to anybody. Never again.

Room Tip: before choosing this place try any other option, they are just around corner

My friend and I walked the West Highland Way and booked two nights B&B. The second B is apparantly breakfast which on our first morning consisted of one rasher of bacon, one egg, half a tomato and a few mushroom pieces. The toast was burnt, hardly a meal we had to go out to get a decent breakfast. We skipped breakfast on day two.
The owners ignored us and showed no interest and did not make us feel welcome. Scotland has a tradition of fanstanstic service and hospitality, clearly the owners of the Craig Nevis Guest House missed that memo. It spoilt what was a great holiday, avoid it at all costs, I won't be going back and recommend you find another B&B, there are great ones in Fort William, just not this one!

Room Tip: Try Fassfern B&B, very good.

Stayed here for one night and with a little bit of trepidation after reading some of the reviews here. Having said that, the room was ok for what I was paying, Little problem with the electric heater in the room, the thermostat kept tripping after a few minutes heat; as it was, I wasn't too fussed about that. Shared shower room. Decent, powerful shower, and no essence of smoke off of the towels as has been reported before. Though I must admit, I did think there was a slight smell of smoke from my bed linen. It's location IS very good, and the staff were friendly enough. I had to share my breakfast room with 11 Indians travelling as a group, it certainly was a lively and loud breakfast!?!?!? :-) Food was ok, standard cooked Scottish breakfast. If you're looking for cheap and relatively cheerful then this is for you. It also has to be said that the walls were a bit thin, so if you have thoughtless folk playing their TV in the early hours you might have an issue getting to sleep.

Stayed at the end of West Highland Way only 2 mins walk from town. Great breakfast the best of that week and staff really friendly. Rooms not huge but perfectly clean. Train and bus station only 5 min walk.

We ( a group of 3 friends on motorbikes ) stayed here for 2 nights on the 2nd and again on 5th September 2011. The rooms are £28 ppn which lets face it isn't expensive. The room decor is tired and the fittings are well used. Some of the rooms aren't ensuite and your toilet and shower room is on the ground floor beside the kitchen(not ideal). My single room on the 1st floor was tiny with no ensuite - it would make an ideal toilet and shower room for the other rooms. On the 5th September I was given a Double room with an ensuite for the same money ( a bonus you may say - I challenge anyone bigger than a 6 year old to use the toilet or basin in that ensuite) The shower is a standard cabinet and is fine. The best thing about the place is the breakfast. The staff who served us was friendly. The dinning room is cramped but the craic can be good. Other guests got their room numbers mixed up by the staff and suffered the embarrasment of being presented with the breakfast selection the other party had made. When it was realised that the staff had made the mistake they didn't even get an apology. The breakfast is good if you get what you order. The owner smokes so she doesn't seem to realise that the rooms and towels smell of smoke. There are better places to stay but it's cheap if your only interested in the handy location etc.

Room Tip: Ask for an ensuite - the rooms in the separate flat or bungalow are better. They also have disabled...

Def agree with other review - this is grotty. The towels smell of smoke - you just dont want to use them. Booked for 3 rooms and then was told that we had 4 reserved for us - at an extra cost - of course. Argued it out and got the 3 rooms in the end. Then when I went to pay at the end of the stay they asked for an extra £108 - when I queried this they said they hadn't realised that 2 people in the group had already paid - although they had the book in front of them all the time.
Very rude man who shouted at my son calling him a "stupid boy" when he asked how to get hot water for the shower. (There is something like an immersion switch inside the bedroom) I say shouted because I was inside another room at the time and heard the words STUPID BOY very clearly. Went to see what awful crime he had committed and couldn't believe it was only asking how to get hot water in the shower.
Stayed in the bungalow - not a place you want to linger. NB sheets have a plastic undersheet in case anyone wets the bed - (I was in a double bed.) The noise of the TV in neighbouring room, and that of my companions in the main house prevented us from getting a full night's sleep.
Charming women serving breakfast in the morning but would not recommend coming here.
