just back from a 5 day coach break, Steve our driver was fab, a mastermind on the local area.
The food was very good, as was the drinks package of 4 drinks per day, and the staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble, nice touch with the afternoon cream tea.
The only down side for us was the poor room,( 415 ) it should not be let to guests, wallpaper hanging off walls in strips, stained carpet, headboards, and beds, and a sink in bathroom with a hole that has been filled with poly filler that has turned rough and brown, unhygienic I wouldn't use the sink. I don't think you should have to upgrade to get a decent room, you should upgrade to get a larger room or a room with a view, but all rooms should have the same living standard.

Room Tip: looks like you have to upgrade to get a decent room

I have just returned from 5 days at the Bay Caledonian at Fort William with Shearings.

I can honestly say it was superb!.

We parked the car at the Normanton Interchange , which is by far the best thing to do on these trips. The driver , Steve, was a walking, talking , driving fountain of all knowledge.! He was brilliant!

The hotel was more than adequate, in fact it was very good! Food superb, staff good, entertainment was the tried and trusted type for these trips, the guy on Tuesday was poor though!

Room was good, clean, tidy, warm.

The trips were top class, one was optional, which was the best!

All in all, Shearings have it about right, we paid £303 for 2 of us, including parking and 4 free drinks a night! wow! well done!

Room Tip: 2nd floor was good

Booked this hotel for a party of four for 3 nights as a 'base to lay our heads' for climbing Ben Nevis. First time using Bay Hotels and overall pleasantly surprised. Rooms clean and adequate and all staff helpful and pleasant.
Although mealtimes busy, service was quick and food was good with reasonable portions.
For the price paid it was an excellent hotel and wouldn't hesitate to use it again if in the area.

A three night stay at the Caledonian to celebrate 50 years since we first met we chose it because of the price and expected cheap and cheerful. it was excellent value, room good size and warm bathroom good lots of hot water food good, service excellent. all staff friendly and helpful .Only one thing to note told that newspapers arrive at 8am most do except independent and telegraph which don't arrive until after 11am didn't find this out until the morning not a problem but worth knowing.Would recommend to others and go again ourselves

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I’m pleased you found your break to be excellent value and our team will be very pleased with your comments. The newspaper situation is a strange one, one week we can receive the papers without any problems and then the next week what you experienced occurs. We look forward to welcoming you back again.

We stayed four nights from7th October and enjoyed ourselves . Only problem people moaning !
When I suggested they spoke to hotel staff . Reply was " I' ll wait till I get home." .
We have been to Bay Dornoch and Bay Highland as well this year and whilst no doubt things need done people should remember the price they are paying! We will be back.

We are quite fussy about where we stay. Don't be put off by negative comments. This is a really lovely 3 Star hotel - but don't expect 4/5 star facilities.

Welcoming friendly and efficient staff - a credit to Bay Hotel Group.

Fabulous base to explore the West of Scotland by car, bus, train or ferry. About 30 mins walk to Fort William Centre.

With our lake view upgrade we paid £110.00 each half board for 3 nights - we struggled to find a B&B for 1 night at that price.

Room was comfortable - decent shower etc perhaps the bed was a little hard and TV channels limited and perhaps (like me) a little tired and worn in places..

Food - good cooked breakfast and for the 3 course evening meal although not individually prepared a' la carte food it was varied and of a very decent quality served by very efficient and friendly staff

Entertainment was provided on two of the evenings.

We paid £110.00 each for 3 nights half board and had a great time - come on honestly what do some people want?.

Couldn't fault it - 10 out of 10.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a room with a view of the Loch - stunning view for £7.00 per night per person...
