For the money it's not good. You get a great first impression when you walk in but don't let this fool you. The rooms are dated the bed is uncomfortable and if the people in the room above or beside you breath to heavy then your gonna here it. Not to mention the squeaky boards in the corridor so you can hear people walk past. I normally stay in Bank St Lodge further into town but decided to stay here this year because I was with my wife. To be honest once you get past the entrance bank st lodge is cleaner more comfortable and A LOT cheaper. I won't stay here again

Very pleasantly surprised with The ALEXANDRA HOTELl. So many plus points for it.Situated overlooking a small, well maintained park and within a short walking distance of the Railway Station and shops and the promenade.,it made for easy mobility and access to all amenities.
The Hotel, part of the STRATHMORE GROUP, was very comfortable and their public restaurant at the side of the hotel had good food reasonably priced and freshly made.
What a selection of food on offer at meal times too. We were dinner, bed and breakfast
and had a wide selection of choice, well cooked and presented breakfasts.
Our evening dinner had great choice and as for the main courses, we were hard pushed to choose. We were not disappointed.
All the staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Our room was on the 4th floor. It was spacious quiet and had open views towards the Sream Trains quite a draw.for everyone.. The bathroom was a bit tired but was clean and fresh. Plenty hot water and clean towels. All in all total cost was great value. I will be back...

Room Tip: If you are on a coach trip, your rooms will be on the lower floors. We travelled independently so fl...

The hotel is currently undergoing a refurb so when you book I would advise asking for one of the already renovated rooms. Fiona at reception was most helpful and professional when I asked to move rooms. Ate in the hotel and it was lovely, I would recommend the pate and haddock. If you are there on a Thursday Steve Brown does live music and he is great for a singalong!

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room (I think they are all on the 1st floor)

The location is very good, arrive by train and the hotel is nice and close, the hotel is ok, and there are some nice rooms.
The lift is extremely small, and can barely take two people, a fellow guest from Germany was amazed by how small it was, and therefore you may need to wait at busy times.

We had a train shortly after 7.40 and asked the receptionist for an earlier breakfast but when we reached the dining room the next morning, the restaurant manager seemed to think that the room was run for his benefit and not of the guests. We pointed out that we had requested an earlier breakfast but obviously he had missed the customer service refresher course. It is things like that which mean that what should be a good hotel can only be described as average. Customer service is SO important, why is it overlooked?

We enjoyed the meal we had in the Hotel's restaurant (although we weren't residents). The Cullen Skink -haddock, potato and leek soup served in a bread bowl- was absolutely delicious. It's a real 'must try'. I can also highly recommend the Chicken Caesar Salad. the service was good too and the staff very friendly.

Room Tip: We weren't residents at the hotel but anyone can use the restaurant.

We arrived in a rain storm but that didn't dampen the staff's hospitality. Our room was rather compact for the two of us and two pieces of luggage you but very, very clean and neat. The lounges were inviting and cozy. The food was good...in fact, probably one of the better trad breakfats we had in our two weeks in Scotland
The hotel is very conveniently situated in Ft. william and our only regret was that it was on a Sunday so the majority of town was closed. Be sure to use the underground walkway to get to the train station though. We didn't and I am sure we aggravated a few local drivers by dodging across the road.
