Stayed here for 3 nights as had arranged a suprise for my husbands birthday to go on the Jacobite Stream Train. We had a superior room. Room was nice a big. Breakfasts second to none, absolutely fabulous. We also ate every night in the restaurant. We had thought we would try the various restaurants in Fort William but the food was so good at the hotel we dare not try anywhere else. We had a wonderful time in Fort William just a pity the weather was not better!

Room Tip: Superior room

We had travelled north from Glasgow on the wonderful West Highland Line, on a day when the late autumn sun bathed the mountains in glorious colour. After a splendid day, we emerged from the train at Fort William seeking our hotel, and were pleased to discover that it was close at hand. We entered, hoping that the positive mood of the day could continue. It certainly did.

We were received by a warm and friendly receptionist who immediately made us feel welcome, and valued. We went to our room which was fresh, tastefully decorated, and fitted out to an exemplary standard, with much thought clearly having been given to the little details as well as the main features. Our lovely view out over calm Loch Linnhe at this late afternoon time was in accord with what we had already found on our side of the bedroom windows. Perfection.

Having perused and enjoyed the guide for residents, written in an engagingly humorous style and further conveying a strong impression of an establishment which cared for its guests, we explored the lochside, and then returned to eat in the a la carte restaurant. The menu was varied and of an attractive character, and those who looked after us were warm, friendly and helpful in what we were coming to regard as this hotel‘s style.

After a comfortable night, we rose in a leisurely way and went down for breakfast, where we found the staff busily coping with the aftermath of having served two busy coach parties. Tables were freshly set, the very generous breakfast selection had been replenished, our coffee and toast arrived outstandingly quickly – and once again we experienced the warm welcome and desire to provide good service which we now knew was characteristic.

In a report written in superlatives, I suppose readers will look for some evidence of reservations to establish verisimilitude. Well, I can only think of one. The lift (which we had to use due to a disability), is small and slow. But such was the hotel ambience that we encountered no evidence of frustration or irritation on the part of guests waiting to use it.

Thanks to all concerned for supplementing a wonderful rail journey with a splendid overnight stay.

Room Tip: Refurbishment is well advanced. Request a refurbished room

Excellent effort by staff to make this a good place to stay. For some reason it seems to be popular with the 65+ crowd on bus tours but I can deal with that. Elevator is super-small....... one person and baggage per trip.... Not much of an issue. Great location and atmosphere.
Relaxing, plush, lobby lounge and bar area. Seems to have entertainment everytime where there. Buffet breakfast was varied and filling. Rooms were more than adequate. Table was broken in our room and things could easily fall off. No fan in toilet but overall...... pleasant experience. Plenty of coffee, snacks, water bottles. In fact, we put out the 'do not disturb' sign and the next morning there were fresh towels, coffee packs, milk, etc on the floor by our door.
I have NEVER seen that - not even at a 5 star hotel. Recent update to hotel rooms....
No pool or fitness center but as a guest you are entitled to use a nearby top notch place.....

Room Tip: Choose lower floor rooms if elevator service is an issue.... small el.

Stayed for 2 nights. Room was comfortable and clean but dated. We were on the 4th floor which was a bit of a trawl and we seemed to be at the farthest flung reaches of the building so we sussed pretty quickly NOT to go downstairs unless we had EVERYTHING we thought we might need! We were happy though that no one was above us as there's a lot of movement early mornings and late evenings - typical coach trip type hotel with large groups checking in and out. Walls a bit thin so use ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The lift is very small so we had to wait a while to take our luggage up/down. Loads of hot water - almost scalding so watch out as the sinks don't have mixer taps. Bar/lounge area very sociable and there was live music playing both nights we stayed. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Speedy check-in/out. Willingly obliged when asked if they would fill our camelbaks. Food was very nice - breakfasts, as mentioned by other reviewers, was excellent. Check serving times as we had an early pick up for our climb so the hotel made sure they had some hot items ready in time. Good place to stay for 1/2 nights - you won't get frills but you will get smiles!

Stayed here many times and will stay again soon. Breakfasts are great, hard to see what else they could provide. Evening meals good too. The staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Entertainment on some nights, we enjoyed all the acts, they were entertaining and professional.
Stayed in a superior room, worth the upgrade, particularly if ,like us, you stay for a week.
