We spent last Saturday night at the Alexandra and had a wonderful time. The hotel is so well situated in Fort William and will certainly suit all tastes. The reception staff in particular have to be commended. The buffet breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of choice. Although we weren't dining in the hotel, we have had meals in the past and the food is great. We would recommend the Alexandra as a good base.

Room Tip: Try to book a room at the front of the hotel with views of the town and the loch.

We have just came back from Fort William after a stay in Skye just to top off the long trip from Edinburgh, this hotel has a good location and it is central for the train station which is just over the road. The food and the drinks were fine and the staff were very good always looking out for your needs if required and we will definitely be back as they have some really good deals on if you go to their web site for all the offers and once again pass onto your staff a very big thank you from cliff & Anne King.

Room Tip: You can also use its sister hotel which is Ben Nevis Hotel & Leisure Club if you wish which is o...

Very pleasant hotel, close to all amenities in Fort William. Our room was situated on the 1st floor, was clean and comfortable as was our bathroom.
The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The service and the food in the restaurant was very good and plentiful
We would recommend the hotel and would certainly return

Very conveniently situated near to the railway station (we travelled as part of a group). Public areas are quite pleasant and well kept, staff are helpful. Our bedroom on the second floor was a good size but the bathroom was dated and tired looking, certainly would benefit from an upgrade. Some of the corridor carpet was looking worn in places and the general décor in this area of the hotel could also benefit from a more stylish approach. The food was what one would expect in this type of hotel, catering for a large party. Health and safety considerations (fire safety etc.) appeared to be up to standard, clear signage and alarm systems.
In summary I would say that this hotel was a perfectly adequate 3 star establishment and staying there was certainly not an unpleasant however, with upgrades as detailed earlier it has the potential to become better.

Thank you very much for your comments. As the Alexandra Hotel is a large hotel we do have a refurbishment program where some rooms are upgraded continuously year on year.

It's not the Savoy or anything that grand, it's a perfectly clean and tidy hotel. The staff are very pleasant and helpful in all areas. The food was very nice and there was plenty of it, it was well presented and the service was efficient and friendly. The reception staff and bar staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean, tidy and comfortable, the bath took a long time to empty but it's not the end of the world because of that. There was an adequate number of TV channels to watch if that is what you want. Some reviewers question the rating system and how did this hotel obtain 3 stars, the difference between 3 & 5 stars is a chasm, based upon facilities. This tosh about dated rooms is exactly that, the furniture in our room was modern but it was fine and was more than adequate. We were staying with a very large party and on the Saturday breakfast was a bit of a crush but we had to be out by a certain time and so most people descended on the dining room at the same time, I defy and hotel no matter how many stars they have to deal with such numbers. The breakfast food itself was very good and plenty of it. The evening meal was very good and presented and delivered by efficient and friendly staff. Overall our stay was a good experience.

Stayed here with friends whilst on a train trip.Staff we're very pleasant and helpful, hotel clean and food very good. The one down side was breakfast on Saturday morning, when at 0730hrs it was chaos, queues very long for hot buffet , items replenished but only small amounts at a time. Today's breakfast was different again , fresh and very enjoyable. If I had been an ordinary guest on Saturday morning I would not of been happy.

Thank you, Lindsey, for your feedback and for your comments on our staff, food and cleanliness of the hotel. With regard to the breakfast your group was a rather large group with a deadline to finish breakfast and we were very much aware of the queuing disadvantage and have made plans to reduce queuing in the future. In most cases when we have a full hotel with different groups we tend to stagger their breakfast times in order to minimise queuing. As for the replenishment quantities of hot buffet, we pride ourselves in freshly prepared food with no pre preparation, so there may be a bit of a delay. Once again thank you for your comments.

An old looking hotel right in town. Stayed only for a night. Unless you are on a business trip, I would suggest to go for the numerous bed and breakfast options at Fort William. Neverthless a basic hotel with clean rooms and toilet. The hotel has rooms which can accommodate 4 adults and since we were a group of friends on a road trip, it was very convenient. Parking is free.

Room Tip: I will recommend to stay on top floors not for the view but for less noise from streets.
