We have spent the past week touring Scotland and stayed in 6 hotels. As a family, we ranked this one as the worst, yet it was one of the more expensive ones.
I presume it was the owner who met us. We were left standing at the front desk, he rushed in and told us he was just in a team meeting. He gave us our key with no details on breakfast timings, local area etc. Just a really non welcoming start to the stay.
The floorboards are not old but rather cheap, DIY versions and they need work on them. My daughters bed was the worst. It was a very cheap, flip down student futon that even a 9 year old found unbearable.
The food at dinner was good however the service was very poor.
It is hard to put into words why it didn't live up to the expectations we got from previous reviews but I guess nothing happened to us whilst we were there that made us think, wow or this is really good. Basic, overpriced and needs to look at it's service.More
