Owner description: We are a museum set in Cameron Square which is just off of the centre of Fort William High Street. We have eight rooms packed with fascinating objects, from treasure from a shipwrecked Spanish Armada galleon to the bagpipes played at Bannockburn in 1314. Whether its archaeology, natural history, Commando training and weaponry, Highland crofting life, costumes and charms, Victorian times, silver, coins and medals, or even the history of mountain rescue, it can all be found at the West Highland Museum.

Popped in on a wet day in Fort William. A small and welcoming little museum with many interesting exhibits on Highland history and life.

Well worth a visit and a donation.

Like all good things, small and perfectly formed.

A great little museum that tells the history of the area through an eclectic range of artefacts and displays.

The friendly staff really made you feel welcome and were happy to answer any questions.

Packed into a few well-laid-out rooms is more Scottish history and memorabilia than I knew existed! A free attraction, and an interesting couple of hours could easily be spent here.

To me, this museum is much more educative than the one in Inverness. It has a lot of history regarding the highlands, the settlement of Fort William, Ben Navis Observatory, and the history of the Jacobites. A must see if you visit Fort William.
