“Night Stay in Fort William”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013

My wife and I stayed here for one night in Fort William. We found it very nice. The room was ensuite, had a double bed and a single bed, very clean and tidy. We had a drink in the bar in the evening which was very pleasant. The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was lovely and would recommend the full English breakfast.

We would recommend it for a place to stay

Stayed here weekend, 11th 12th October, from the minute we arrived staff were friendly and helpful, reception and bar areas are very modern. Twin room was slightly dated but perfectly clean, bed extremely comfortable, with quilt and good quality pillows, room heater excellent. Shower was excellent once i,d fiddled with settings but the hot water takes an age to come through. Breakfast was superb plenty of choice just right before a days walking, the place was most definitely VFM!
Its only a short walk from the town centre and the views across the Loch are excellent!

I booked this Hotel on my friend's recommendation. The Hotel looks old from outside but the lobby and the other public areas are very modern. The check-in was prompt, courteous and very professional. We were upgraded to a room with the view of the Loch. The room was on a smaller side but adequate for 2 people and was clean. Wireless Internet was not working in the room but that didn't bother me as it was not a business tour. We enjoyed our drink in the patio outside. During my check-out I was told that the Management is planning to upgrade few of the services of the hotel and might be installing a lift as well. I would certainly recommend this place.

No parking spaces left, no local on street parking either.
Wifi didn't work.
Very few channels on the TV worked.
No hot water for a shower, and it was very early, there wouldn't have been lots of other people using it up at that time.
Room clean, but smelt musty, was difficult to find and very noisy.

Driving north it was getting late and we needed somewhere to stay. First two choices were fully booked and just tried here before it got too late to find anywhere serving food.

It's not awful, but it's certainly not good. It's cheap so I have no complaints about the price - but frankly I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for a duvet on the bed instead of granny-sheets. The room itself was small and a little cold, but I could have handled that without issue if it weren't for the soft, uncomfortable bed with inadequate covers - a few flimsy, cheap sheets and an old wooly blanket.

A quick note on the food at the bar - don't bother getting the sirloin. It's going to arrive with frozen chips, frozen onion rings, some tinned mushrooms and a ghastly tough half-grilled tomato. The steak itself? Don't ask for it rare - they obviously don't understand what that means because mine turned up raw... which doesn't have to be a problem with a tender piece of meat.. shame this was as tough as old boots.

If you want to sink a pint of guiness, eat a cheap burger and sleep in a small but adequate room for a cheap price.. bring your own sleepingbag and come here. I saw a lot of workmen around - and there's nothing wrong with that at all, I have been one myself and I know what they're looking for.. but if you're looking for a further level of comfort on holiday or just travelling though, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Room Tip: Got a small double for two people for £45 without breakfast. would have been £60 with breakfast. Th...

Clean and friendly hotel with a good breakfast. Hotel a bit of a labyrinth , a few extensions added to the main building. Was quite taken aback to find out at breakfast that the fire alarm had went off and it took a while to switch it off because the person that new how to do it wasn`t on duty. It didn`t go off at our part off the hotel so was quite surprised to hear about it. Not very professional.
