My husband and I decided to stop in Fort Williams on our recent honeymoon to Scotland (August 2007) and hadn't booked lodging in advance. It turns out it was a Bankers Holiday so we felt a little pressed to find something early and thought we'd lucked out finding the Ossian's Hotel, which had a tiny parking lot and is very centrally located hotel. We brushed aside the musty cigarette smell of the room and counted ourselves lucky to have found something. Upon bringing our bags up the elevator we had to go back down after we heard a large barking dog decending the stairs towards us... although they said the dog couldn't come down the stairs... we weren't so sure. Then because the place is so centrally located... there is noise all night long from the pubs on the street. We were unfortunate enough to have our room directly next to some people who came back at 3 am to hang out the window (directly next to ours) and smoke cigarettes (where the smoke blew directly into our room) and then yelling obscenities out the window at passer bys for a good hour. At this point we bailed... drove a few miles away and slept in the car. Ossian's Hotel was not only the worst hotel I stayed at in Scotland... but also the most expensive!
