We just stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The Location is absoultely amazing for scenery. Right opposite the Loch and beautiful to wake upto in the morning.
The hotel itself is about right for a 3 star, nothing particularly special but nice enough to be comfortable. Dinner was pretty pricey though as were the bar meals and we didn't eat there because of this. Breakfast was excellent however.
Only gripe was probably the rooms, which were a little dated. The shower was pretty useless power wise and the bed very uncomfortable.

All in all though, we liked it and would return.

There were 3 of us travelling and we were trying to find the most reasonable price accommodation in or near Fort William. Found this one - cost about 40 pounds per person per night and we got a very spacious room with 2 single beds and one bunk bed with bathroom big enough for a bathtub. Breakfast was included in the price and is good. Hotel itself is within about 2-3 minutes driving from town centre, so i would recommend this to anyone that is driving to Fort William. Otherwise it maybe a bit of a walk to get into town.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, great food. We didn't want to leave. One thing that would be great is if the hotel could get a laundry room? As we got quite muddy out hiking.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, we wish we had.

We appreciated that this was a family-operated hotel with a history spanning many years. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. We loved the view of the Loch from the lounge, the bar, and the breakfast room. With late summer sunsets, a nightcap in the bar is a must. The breakfasts were nicely prepared and professionally served.

Room Tip: Not a complaint because we were on holiday, but internet access was weak in our room. The signal wa...

I wanted all dog owners to be aware of an experience we had with Clan Macduff Hotel in Fort William, which advertises on various websites as "pets allowed" and "pet friendly". In my humble opinion, it is not.

Last night we booked a room and on our on-line booking submission we stated -

"We will have a small well-behaved dog with us. She is friendly, used to staying in hotels, visting pubs and being in areas where there are lots of people. Please confirm if there is any problem with this. If we are not able to leave the dog unattended in the bedroom then please let us know in advance."

Molly is a Staffie Whippet cross. She is very short coated and not what I would consider a large dog. She has a beautiful nature and many, many hotels where she has stayed have commended her behaviour.

Literally immediately on making the booking we received a call from the hotel and the most ridiculous conversation followed. I was asked what type of dog she is, to which I replied, she's a Staffie Whippet cross, very "whippety".

"Ah", says the lady, "but I need to know the dog's height". Having never been asked my dog's height before I was a little floundered but responded to say that she would be about knee height at the most (we have since measured her so we'll know next time that she is 18 inches at the shoulder!).

"Oh no", says the lady, "we only take pooches, not dogs". I asked her what that meant, to which she responded, "well, you know, Westies, Yorkies, that sort of thing".

We cancelled and they gladly accepted our cancellation. I suggest the various websites need to be a little clearer on this establishment - "dogs must meet stringent guidelines on height".

We found this hotel to be very clean and comfortable. Fabulous views from the front over Loch Linnhe. Pleasant, friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast is completely waitress service, but the service was quick. Portions seemed a little 'controlled', but you can ask for more if desired. Plenty of car parking.
