“Would have no hesitation staying here again.”
Reviewed 26 January 2012

We were desperate to escape from a disappointing hotel in Fort William & called here on spec. I asked the most helpful young receptionist if it was possible to have a room with a nice view, she went through the list a couple or 3 times desperately looking for something as if it was a compulsory requirement. She then announced AAHHHH there's one across the carpark. We were shown a first floor room with a fantastic view overlooking Loch Linnhe. The room had everything we needed.
Both the evening meal & breakfast were excellent. Plenty of free carpark space &&&&& they take dogs.

Thanks to the web and Trip Advisor, this hotel was an excellent find for a one-night stop on our tour of Scotland: easy to find,on the A82,on the road south from Fort William,in a wonderful position facing Loch Linnhe. Very quickly we regretted staying here for only one night as this is an attractive hotel. The public rooms, which are kept in tip-top condition, and many of the rooms, also enjoy views of the loch. There is plenty of easy parking. Service is A1,thoughtful,and kind and every consideration was given to the fact that my partner is disabled. We had a generous-sized ground floor bedroom, with a view of the loch, close to disabled parking.Attractively decorated and furnished in traditional style, the room was in excellent order and very comfortable ,with a generous-sized and immaculate shower-room. Dinner ,£20 for three courses and coffee, with four choices per course, in a menu which changed daily, was nicely cooked and presented and featured fairly traditional tasty food, with some more modern touches;wine was good value.I think the cuisine could easily be upped a notch with a bit more sophistication and choice but the good 'home cooking style' has a lot to recommend it. Breakfast with waitress service, had all the cooked basics, was nicely cooked ,though a little on the slim side.A little more choice would be appreciated (e.g. there was only one preserve on the table,a dish of marmalade).

A few days later ,my partner's illness and hospitalisation meant that ,unexpectedly,I had to stay in Fort William again.I returned to the Clan Mcduff ,with both relief and pleasure for a second night. I was not disappointed. This hotel is consistently well run .

One of the owners was present on both days. On my second night she ate in the restaurant and talked to staff and visited the kitchen. Though friendly and largely unobtrusive,I am sure that she was keeping a watchful eye on standards and this no doubt is part of the secret to ensure such high all-round standards. This hotel offers excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Front-facing rooms have loch views and first-floor rooms have balconies also.Disabled visitors can h...

Comfortable and clean hotel room - although a little dark. Good breakfast (continental and cooked) - full service (i.e everything was brought to you and you coudn't get up to help yourself to cereal etc). The restaurant had good views of the loch.

The hotel is out of Fort William. This isn't an issue if you have a car.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel (overlooking a cliff) - hence the room was quite dark. If st...

Had an overnight stop at Clan McDuff on our way north. While a little dated, (Which some will see as a positive) room was quite comfortable. Restaurant had great variety of meals, all of a very good quality. As expected the breakfast was great. The location is quite good overlooking the loch, about a mile from the town centre.

Stayed 2 nights at The Clan Mac Duff, and wish it could have been longer. Will definitely stay there again. Staff couldn't do enough and the meals were delish , no skimpy portions here.
We have a lovely room with balcony and loch views, spotlessly clean. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: Always book a loch view and balcony

Friendly staff, clean rooms, restaurant has great views over the Loch. Bar food was fine and reasonably priced. Breakfast service again first class and the food was pretty good (bacon and haggis excellent). Good base to climb Ben Nevis.
