Cons:
If you are going to stay here, I would avoid the annex. It's not very nice. Very poor Internet connection, really old sunken in bed, old tacky furniture, the window didn't open hardly at all, the outer door was almost impossible to lock. The staff also lost my reservation and said that it happens from time to time. So beware. In my opinion losing reservations from time to time isn't good enough. I was lucky in that there were spare rooms and I ended up getting one. Also, the landing just outside my room was pretty decrepit. The cement ground was half torn up and there was a persons personal shed-like area where they stored their bins and such. Seriously, it wouldn't be hard to fix these issues. Fork out a little to properly cement the ground, put a cheap table and chairs set outside for people to relax on, cordon off the private area that is ugly with a fence, maybe place a couple of pot plants around. It would go a million miles to making this area more welcoming. As for the room, get a tradesman in to fix the outer door, buy a new mattress, and please do away with those blankets that look like they are seriously thirty years old. I'm not exaggerating here, I have blankets at home that I use for moving purposes that look the same. A half decent quilt really wouldn't cost that much. The thing is, the nicer a place is the more people will be willing to pay. And they will either come back or will refer the place to friends. Sadly I won't be doing either. Oh, and the walls were paper thin in regards to noise from the adjacent room.

Pros:
The service was nice enough. The bathroom in the room was clean and adequate for what I needed.

The staff at the hotel and it's restaurant made us feel very welcome. Our room was basic but had a great view. This view is also a main feature in the bar and restaurant, so kudos for that. The showers (water pressure nil) and the drains (smelly) need attending to though. Very good hotel with the need to attend to a few minor improvements.

Our arrival was met with a great welcome and after checking in we sat in lovely comfortable chairs overlooking beautiful Lake Linnhe. This was so relaxing. The dining room also overlooks the lake and the food & staff were first class. The Scottish flare was a lovely touch. Would certainly recommend this hotel.

Overpriced room at £101..
Worsened by a tragic farce of a supper...with a Fish Pie without the Fish, & covered in Smash, crappy mashed dried tasteless spuds...
Clan Macduff's amazing dining room with brilliant views should be buzzing with happy contented travellers who have dined on Scotland's finest fare?
No chance here,
The owners/managers must be aware of the kitchen's poor performance.
Eat out.

Arrived for a one night stay with a loch view room, hotel was privately owned and had a dated kind of feel, though clean and warm. Far enough from the town centre to ensure a level of peace and quiet. They have a 'quiet' room, where no kids, phones etc, a great idea!
We were horrified at the state of Fort William, Ghastly shopping precinct with cheapo shops and a very run down look, even worse than my visit from the 90's...Loch Linnhe is overlooked by an ugly set of rear ends of buildings with gas bottles, rubbish etc lying around. This in stark contrast to Aviemore from the day before which had been run down years ago but has had money thrown at it and looks great. Fort William advertises itself as a tourist centre. As a Scotsman, I was embarrassed at the state of it.

Back to the hotel, Plus points-

1/ The staff, all excellent, esp the Polish waitresses at breakfast. Big smiles and polite.
2/ The bar had a great choice of Whiskies.

Negatives,

1- Hotel room was dated, Teak effect furniture and dated fabrics on the chairs/headboards. I am NOT picky but it was old.
2/ The bed was very hard and the mattress was thin.

I would avoid in future as it is not exactly inexpensive, £110 for the room for one night and we were £50 for our evening meal inc 2 drinks each. (meal was a choice of 3 items per course)

Room Tip: 23, good view, thin mattresses.

Great room, wonderful view of Loch Linnie. Excellent service. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Food was plentiful. Service in the dining room was quite good. My only nitpick is that it was too far from the center of town to walk given the fact it was raining. Now, had the sun been out, the 2.5 miles would have been a pleasant walk along the Loch.

Room Tip: Ask for a Loch view room.

An enjoyable holiday with fantastic views from the lounge and dining room over Loch Linnhe. Nice sized room with clean comfortable beds and enjoyable meals where there was a menu for the children. Thanks to the member of staff who created animals when leaving the clean towels this was a huge hit with the girls. Local taxi drivers were also extremely helpful.
