Located on the north side of Fort Wiliam the hotel provides a clear view of Ben Nevis and is in a great position for exploring Loch Laggan and the Great Glen. It is close to the Caledonian Canal, Spean Bridge and Invergarry

We had a great stay in the Ben Nevis hotel which is in a great location next to Nevis Range ski resort. The food was great and we had exellent service throughout our stay. The ski resort was exellent and we had great fun leaning to ski. The welcoming pool and sauna was wonderful at the end of a hard days skiing. the beds were very comfortable and the breakfasts were exellent.

We stayed at the Ben Nevis Hotel for two nights, as a romantic getaway - we probably wouldn't go back.

Having said that, the service was great! Everyone was very friendly and extermely helpful. Surprinsgly however, the reception didn't know very much about the hiking trails around the hotel which one would think would be one of the main attractions to the town! The pool facilities were GREAT! Had we known they were giong to be so good we would have used them more during our stay, unfortunately we didn't use them until our last night. Very clean, and very relaxing with views of the ben right outside the giant windows.

The rooms were average, with all the necessities. Nothing overly luxurious or new. The food again, was average. Not bad, but not great. We ate there one night, and opted for a local place the next night.

All in all, not bad for value.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel. We found the room we stayed in quite spacious with ample space for a travel cot. There were 2 problems, though, with the room, 1 - the windows were single glazed and could well have done with being double glazed as our 2nd problem was the noise from the road - what a nightmare. The road is quite a main route and so the noise went on until late and then started again quite early - 5.30/6 am! The dinners for the 1st two nights were ok and then the 3rd & 4th were really nice. Unfortunately with a little one we didnt manage to appreciate the entertainment but we understand that it was good. The breakfasts were very good, with plenty of choice. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The leisure facilities were very good although the heating for the swimming pool wasnt working so again with a little one we only managed to use this once.
Dont know if I would recommend it to anyone, I think it would be up to you to decide whether or not to visit.

We returned on Friday from a 4 night Tinsel & Turkey break at The Ben Nevis Hotel, Fort William & it was fantastic. I was a little apprehensive as it was over 200 miles from home but I neednt have been worried as it was well worth the long trip. The hotel was traditionally decorated & soon put us in a Festive Mood.
Our room was in the annexe, just a matter of approx 2 minutes via a covered walkway to the main hotel. The room was large, spotless & warm with tea/coffee/chocolate topped up daily for our use, most welcome after a trip out to see the spectacular scenery. Beds were " huge" & very comfy.
Meals were well presented, fresh & plentifull, with buffet breakfast. There was plenty of choice & the menu changed daily. The dining room is well lit & the table linen spotless. Service was quick & staff were very efficient & at each meal we were greeted with " big smiles" & general friendly chat.
The lounge was very comfortable with a log fire as a focal point (gas) & the bar was well stocked with a large tv on the wall for those who like to " watch & drink "! The live entertainment was very good & held in a huge ballroom, so dancing was a must!
Reception staff were very friendly & efficient & nothing was too much trouble. Management + all staff were fantastic & put themselves out to pamper our needs.
There is a lovely warm swimpool & jacuzi which we took advantage of + gym for the more energetic !
My husband is registered blind & deaf & so the ground floor, spacious room in the annex was just what we needed & so I would recommend this hotel to everyone from younger to older & from the most abled to the not so abled holidaymaker. The scenery eg. snow on Ben Nevis, from the hotel is an added bonus & being only 1 mile from the town centre of Fort William, it is handy for usual shops, banks etc. & for visiting other parts of the Highlands.
Our Christmas & New Year certainly did come early, well worth the £119 each, We hope to return in the Spring & know we can be assured of another great holiday. Many thanks to all.
Merry Christmas & Happy Hogmanay.

Experienced a very pleasant stopover at the Ben Nevis Hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable, staff were very friendly, management very hands on, and food good. An added bonus is their well equipped leisure suite which I made full use of. Entertaiment also good. The hotel is well situated for walking, climbing, skiing, and only a short walk to Fort William town centre, rail and bus stations. The view from our room of a snow capped Ben Nevis was amazing.

Ben Nevis Hotel, Fort William, Scotland, 18 Sept 09
Thankfully not too often, but nevertheless from time to time, an establishment is encountered that has to be endured, since even at first glance to be enjoyed is out of the question. In the case of the Ben Nevis, it is hard to think of a single redeeming feature.

Externally the buildings comprising the hotel are plainly in need of a thorough “clean and brush up”. It is not helpful, of course, that they are located on a main road with traffic noise all night long nor that the outlook from the front of the hotel embraces an industrial estate. Small, underwhelming grounds are made more depressing by the fact that there is little evidence of maintenance – grass not mown, hanging baskets limp and drooping and a generally dreary unkempt ambiance. This was epitomised by a garden sized chess set. Given that it was located outside and pieces were of plastic, not surprisingly that they looked grubby. Why it is thought that anyone would actually want to play chess with outsized pieces in scruffy surroundings will have to remain one of life’s unanswered questions.

Externalities were matched inside as well. Self-evidently, the hotel had not been refurbished is decades. Carpets were thread bare and holed, walls were marked and scuffed. The hotel does not possess a lift. The largish dark Reception/sitting area was adequately comfortable, but the WIFI seemed not to work – at any rate, for my laptop (modern). The bar was scruffy, unappealing and, for a hotel of this size, small. In the restaurant, although table linen was clean, the furniture was a disgrace. Seats were embellished with smears of what probably had originally been chocolate source, but in appearance could have been something far less mentionable. Service was slow. Food, although pretentiously described, would stand fair comparison with roadside cafes at the lower end of the spectrum. Highlights of breakfast, in particular, were greasy grey sausages, limp pink bacon and eggs that had congealed under arc lamps – unspeakable!

The bedroom (No. 249) was small and poky. Just enough room was left between the walls and the sides of the bed to allow for access. Little space or facilities were available for unpacking. The adjoining bathroom had decorative embellishments which included hairs in the bath from the previous occupant – or who knows, perhaps, the one before that. The shower did not benefit from a mixer tap, and so had a tendency to fly off under excessive water pressure. The shower head was split, and so gushed water in a pattern that politely be described as erratic. Tea making facilities were skimpy and included a mug cracked from top to bottm with a seepage stain a centimetre above the base. Plainly, therefore, this had been its condition for some considerable period of time.

All in all, the condition of and standards evinced by this hotel spoke of two things – (1) an almost total lack of care and (2) indolent and slapdash management. Having stayed in hotels worldwide for over fifty years, I would rate this as one of the ten worst that I’ve ever encountered. Amazingly, it even advertised an appeal for funds to refurbish the establishment; in most commercial enterprises, this is normally taken to be the responsibility of the owners. It was noteworthy also that they "welcomed constructive criticism". My suggestion - bring in the bulldozers!
