Premier Inn Fort William Hotel
Ranked #7 of 21 Hotels in Fort William
Reviewed 8 September 2009

We stayed here with 2 elderly relatives for a couple of nights at the end of August. We then travelled on to Skye and we primarily used this as a stopover.

The hotel is what you would expect from a Premier Inn. Comfortable and clean. The breakfast in the adjoining Brewers Fayre was good - buffet, but with cooked breakfast done to order! Did not eat in here at night as we thought it would be too busy for the olds!

If you are not into the great outdoors, then there's not a huge amount in Fort William to do. We went down to Oban, but there are plenty of other places within easy reach. The drive out to Mallaig is well worth it, even if you're not going to get the ferry to Skye!

Would recommed this hotel as a base for exploring the area and would defo use it again.

Whether you are on the loch side or the mountain side you are sure to get a great view. We had one on the mountain side so you get great views of the mountain, especially if you are on the 1st floor. There is a small lift so you could take your suitcases up if you only had a couple, but if you had loads of stuff you would have to lift it up the stairs or take 2 trips on the lift. Rooms are comfy, reasonably quiet (even though located in a retail park), and clean. You are a short walk from the town centre, the morrisons supermarket and mcdonalds and your are about an hour and a quarters drive from loch ness and malaig (skye ferry terminal) so you dont just have Fort William to look around. The restaurant is a Brewers Fayre that needs a real update, it is busy, but the food is good. Good breakfast too. There is also an outdoors kiddies play area. So restaurant is not exactly amazing but rooms are great, great location, views, handy place for people who want to visit loch ness, isle of skye, ben nevis etc.

It's a fairly standard Premier Inn / Brewers Fayre setup. But we didn't go there for the premier inn, or Fort William both of which are rather average, but for the surrounding area which is amazing.

We stayed in early July and even though it wasn't that hot outside, and raining a lot, it was very hot in the rooms, we had the window open the tiny crack it allowed but it was still roasting. The temperature guage in the room read over 26C most of the time. So it was quite difficult to get any rest in the rooms.

The pub at around 6-8pm was extremely busy, we went in on a couple of occasions to be told there was an approx. 2 hour wait! It's not surprising as Fort William is particularly pooly served with good eating establishments. However you can book a table in advance if you want to eat the pub, the food is average, however.

Hotel was great, room as per most other Premier Inn.

Restaurant was the only thing that let this down. One of those places where nearly every thing is fried, and there are loads of kids running around doing your head in.

So if you fancy heading into Fort William to get some think to eat this would be a perfect stay

We found this Premier Inn an ideal spot for visiting the Highlands. It is easy to find and the centre of town, supermarket and trainstation are close by, as ar the local sites like the Glen and Ben Nevis. But you can also easily visit Loch Ness, Glenfinnan and Glen Coe from here. The hotel itself is great for a stay with kids. Two kids each have their own single bed. The room we stayed in was clean and had everything you would want. There is a Brewers Fayre pub next door with excellent food and a special kids menu. The breakfast is also served here and the premier breakfast offers everything you could want. The staff at reception and in the pub were very nice and helpful.
The only negative we can think of (and that goes for all premier inns we stayed at: the floors are very thin, so if you are unlucky with your upstairs neighbours (i.e. they pace around the room a lot at night or early in the morning) then you might have some trouble sleeping.
All in all again a very good premier inn-experience.

It is ok for a no frills hotel, quiet expensive at £69 per night for no added extras. The water does not seem to have a temperature regulator on it, and I burnt my foot while trying to have a bath. Reported to very friendly reception, handy man came to fix but did not seem to.

Reception staff were very friendly and made the stay more enjoyable. Location is not the best as it is located on an Indutrial Estate with no view, there maybe more scenic places to stay in Fort William. Overall I would say the hotel served its purpose, but do think £69 per night is too expensive especially as breakfast is included.

Good clean accommodation. Well situated and plenty of car parking. Pub/Restaurant attached to hotel has good varied menu at reasonable prices. Breakfast buffet good. Most staff friendly but receptionist must have been a Doctor's Receptionist in a former life!! Very similar accommodation to Travelodge but more expensive. However no handy Travelodge in Fort William hence my stay at Premier Inn
